Summary

Overview

Reserol is a Swedish beauty brand founded in 2017 and based in Stockholm, known for thin, dissolvable oral films that deliver resveratrol through the lining of the mouth [8]. Its range spans ingestible supplements and topical skincare, built around the idea of "beauty from the inside and the outside." Since February 2024 the brand has been owned by Lyko, the Nordic online beauty retailer, which bought it from the previous owner Nutrinovate AB [7].

The company was founded by Mikael Lindblad and Magnus Nilsson-Vall [8]. Its distinctive film technology, however, is credited to inventor Fredrik Hübinette and researcher Scott Boyer, who according to the company collaborated to create what it describes as the first functional film carrying selected dietary supplements.

Origin and founders

Reserol was established in 2017 around a single idea: delivering resveratrol, a plant polyphenol the brand refers to as an anti-aging molecule, in a form the body could absorb efficiently. The result was a leaf-thin oral film designed, in the company's words, "to deliver resveratrol into the body through the oral mucous membrane." Each film contains 20 mg of resveratrol.

Sources differ on who is behind the brand, though the two accounts describe different roles rather than contradicting each other. Two press releases name Mikael Lindblad and Magnus Nilsson-Vall as the founders in 2017 [7][8], and Swedish editorial coverage identifies Lindblad as chief executive. The company's own "About" page instead credits the underlying film technology to inventor Fredrik Hübinette and researcher Scott Boyer, the latter described as a former chief scientist at AstraZeneca and director of SWETOX, the Swedish Toxicology Sciences Research Center. The founders built the company; the researchers developed the platform it rests on.

Products and innovation

Reserol's signature product is a resveratrol film, sold in a mint-flavoured version marketed as the Beauty Mint after the original seaweed taste proved unpopular. The films are made from an alginate-based polymer, cut into thin pieces and dried in a specially built oven — a step Swedish editorial coverage describes as the company's central manufacturing secret, reportedly years in development [9]. Reserol says the film is made with patented technology and manufactured in Sweden [6], at a facility in Arninge outside Stockholm [9].

Alongside the ingestible films, the brand sells a topical skincare line that includes day and night creams, a serum, a cleansing balm and an overnight mask, as well as a collagen drink. The Overnight Mask combines hexapeptides, shea butter, squalane and vitamins, and the company positions it as helping the skin retain moisture and soften visible lines. Other formulas draw on ingredients such as Resistem, described as plant stem cells derived from Globularia cordifolia, and green tea extract.

The through-line across the catalogue is what the brand calls "beauty from the inside and the outside" — pairing supplements taken by mouth with products applied to the skin. Reserol frames its wider mission as improving both personal health and the health of the planet using proven substances combined with an innovative approach.

Recognition

Reserol's Overnight Mask was named Mask of the Year at the 2019 Daisy Beauty Awards [8]. The brand has also drawn independent editorial coverage in Sweden, which reported inquiries from international retailers, including interest from Harvey Nichols and Harrods in London, though no confirmed global rollout followed [9].

Ownership

On 1 February 2024, Reserol was acquired by Lyko, a Nordic e-commerce beauty retailer, from its previous owner Nutrinovate AB [7][8]. Deal terms were not disclosed. Lyko described the purchase as its first acquisition in the dietary-supplement category, citing European demand for Scandinavian beauty products and the aim of scaling the brand through its digital and physical retail network. On Reserol's own site, the legal entity is now listed as Walley Beauty Brands AB, Lyko's holding company for its in-house brands, registered in Stockholm [4].

Current status

Reserol continues to operate as a Lyko-owned brand. Its webshop remains active, though several products — including the Beauty Mint, the Overnight Mask and the Skin Serum — were listed as sold out at the time of review. Distribution is centred on Sweden and the wider Nordic market.
