Overview
Revalid is a Swiss hair-care and hair-loss brand developed in 1992 and owned by the pharmaceutical company Ewopharma AG, based in Schaffhausen, Switzerland [2][1]. Built around ingestible supplements, topical serums and shampoos, it is sold through pharmacies and positions itself as a science-led, dermatologist-oriented range rather than a mass-market cosmetics line.
The brand remains active, with a steady run of recent launches: a Bond Repair range for damaged hair in December 2024, an Extra-Firming skincare line in January 2025, and a next-generation hair-loss range in June 2025 [7].
Origin and founders
Revalid traces its origins to Swiss work on treating hair loss from within. According to the company, a doctor discovered a formula for an oral hair tonic during a research trip to the United States and enriched it with trace elements, producing what the brand describes as one of the world's first capsules aimed at hair loss. The Revalid product line itself was developed in Switzerland in 1992 [8].
The brand's founders are not named on its own materials. Its history is told instead through its parent company, Ewopharma, and a founding date that the brand presents in two ways (see below).
Founding year: 1992 or 1959
Revalid's own sources give two dates. Its homepage, FAQ and media pages consistently state that the brand was "developed in Switzerland in 1992" [8]. Its about page, however, carries the tagline "Pioneers in Well-Being. Since 1959." [1]
The two dates refer to different things. 1959 is the founding year of Ewopharma AG, the parent company and successor to a firm recorded as M.R. Leclerc & Co.; a corporate profile of Ewopharma dates the development of the Revalid line to 1992 [11]. The 1959 tagline therefore points to the parent company's heritage, while 1992 marks the introduction of the Revalid brand.
Ownership
Revalid is owned by Ewopharma AG, headquartered at Vordergasse 43 in Schaffhausen, Switzerland [1]. Ewopharma describes itself as a healthcare marketing company founded in 1959, focused on bringing pharmaceutical and consumer-health products to markets in Central and Eastern Europe as well as Switzerland [11]. Revalid is one of the proprietary products the company has developed and marketed rather than only distributing on behalf of others.
Philosophy and positioning
Revalid frames outer appearance as an extension of inner wellbeing. The company summarises its approach as "the science of wellbeing in hair and skin care" and says it combines "medical expertise with Swiss quality" to help people restore inner and outer balance. Its stated method leans on biotechnology, dermatological testing and Swiss manufacturing, and the brand notes that its research, development and production are all carried out in Switzerland.
Products are sold exclusively through pharmacies and, per the company, recommended by dermatologists [8] — a positioning closer to consumer healthcare than to conventional beauty retail. Revalid also states that its formulas exclude parabens, sulphates and silicones, and that its products are not tested on animals; the skincare line is additionally described as vegan and non-comedogenic [8].
Products and innovation
The core of the range addresses hair loss and hair health. Signature products include the Regrowth Serums for women and men, which the company says are clinically proven to reduce hair loss and stimulate visible regrowth, and the Revalid Hair Complex, a supplement described as nourishing hair "from within." The Bond Repair line targets dry and damaged hair, while the Triple Active Shampoo DS is presented as having a clinically proven effect on scalps prone to seborrheic dermatitis, a flaky, inflamed scalp condition. In January 2025 the brand extended beyond hair into skincare with an Extra-Firming line of day and night creams and a boost serum.
Several proprietary or named technologies recur across the range, including Kerascalp, KeraGuard, plant-EGF, and CREMA C and CREMA D. The most prominent is Redensyl, which Revalid describes as a breakthrough ingredient against hair loss built on the patented molecules DHQG and EGCG2 [8]. The independent ingredient database INCIDecoder similarly notes that the brand's Regrowth Serum contains the patented ingredient Redensyl, alongside Swiss alpine artemisia extract, amino acids and panthenol [10].
The brand supports its products with a range of clinical figures drawn from its own studies — for example, that Redensyl stimulated hair growth by 214% in an in-vitro study over ten days, and up to 28,000 new hairs after three months of daily use measured by phototrichogram analysis [3]. These results are presented by the company from its own testing rather than by independent review.
Current status
Revalid is an active brand. Its most recent recorded activity is a June 2025 press release announcing a next-generation hair-loss range for women and men [7]. Distribution spans pharmacies across Central and Eastern Europe, with dedicated regional sites for markets including Bosnia, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Slovenia, and the range is also sold in the Nordic markets.
