Overview
RevitaSun is a German self-tanning brand operated by a Novation cosmetics GmbH, a company based in Mainz [3]. Its range is built around a single tanning spray for the face and body, sold with a small set of application tools, and it presents itself as a vegan, sun-free alternative to tanning outdoors.
The brand is active. It runs its own webshop and publishes a blog, the Glow Journal, with its most recent posts dated November 2025 [4]. Little is documented about where the brand came from: its founding year and founders are not publicly recorded, and no independent press coverage or awards are known.
Ownership
According to the legal notice on its website, RevitaSun is run by a Novation cosmetics GmbH, registered at the district court in Mainz, with Holger Mannweiler named as managing director [3]. He is identified there as the company's legal representative, not as the brand's founder. The same notice credits product photography for a second brand, CILAMOUR, which suggests the Mainz company operates more than one cosmetics label. No acquisitions or changes of ownership are documented.
Philosophy & positioning
RevitaSun's tagline, "Dein perfekter Glow – ganz ohne Sonne" ("your perfect glow, without any sun"), sums up its pitch: colour that looks like a tan without time in direct sunlight. The company says it stands for "modern, conscious beauty" and describes its formula as entirely vegan, made without any animal-derived ingredients [2].
On its benefits page, the brand lists what it sees as the main reasons to choose the product. These are streak-free and even colour, a natural-looking result, a glow that shows straight away, suitability for every skin tone and a pleasant scent. The homepage repeats the message in shorter form, promising no orange tint and no streaks, and adds that the spray has been dermatologically tested [1].
The brand's blog follows the same line. Its posts frame self-tanning as a way to look fresher in daily life without exposure to UV radiation, with seasonal pieces on using a tan in winter and over the Christmas holidays.
Products & innovation
The core of the range is the REVITASUN Tanning Spray (sold in German as "Bräunungsspray") in a 150 ml bottle. A 50 ml Discovery Set offers a smaller size for travel, and the self-tanner set pairs the spray with an application glove. A Flat Kabuki Brush, a flat-topped make-up brush, is sold for blending the product evenly on the face and body.
The active tanning ingredient is dihydroxyacetone, usually shortened to DHA. The company explains that it reacts with proteins in the outermost layer of the skin to create a tan-like colour, and that it works only on the surface. The brand advises users to exfoliate first, apply one or two pumps of spray to the glove or brush, and work it into clean, dry skin with circular movements. It recommends one application a day, repeated daily for a deeper shade, and says the spray suits light through dark skin tones.
RevitaSun gives two different figures for how long the colour takes to develop, both on its own website. The homepage says a first glow is visible immediately and the tan develops fully within four to six hours [1]. The FAQ page says the first effect is visible after 30 seconds but advises against a second application on the same day, because the tan needs about eight hours to develop fully [5]. The homepage puts the lasting time at around four to seven days, depending on skin type and aftercare.
The company is clear that the tan offers no protection from the sun. Its FAQ tells users to keep wearing sunscreen and says the product can be combined with sunbathing or a solarium.
Retailer descriptions of the brand point to a wider range than its own shop currently shows. One online beauty retailer lists a cosmetics glove and a facial oil with sun protection, Marula Oil Beauty Elixir SPF 30, and its brand copy also mentions a shower gel and a body scrub [7]. The same retailer text describes the brand's motto as "Sommer auf der Haut" ("summer on the skin").
Sustainability
Veganism is the brand's main ethical claim. According to RevitaSun, its entire line is certified by The Vegan Society and therefore fully vegan [5]. No other certifications, sustainability commitments or details of where the products are made are documented.
Current status
RevitaSun is an active brand. As of October 2026, its German-language webshop was live, offering euro checkout across a broad list of European countries, with some products marked as sold out. The Glow Journal's latest posts appeared on 10 and 11 November 2025 [4]. No social media profiles are linked from the brand's website.
