Summary

Overview

Rimita Green is a Finnish natural-cosmetics company founded in 2014 by Minna Uusitalo and her son Riku-Pekka Uusitalo [1]. Based in Pietarsaari (Jakobstad) on Finland's Ostrobothnian coast, it is run as a mother-and-son family business and makes skincare, body-care and deodorant products built around Nordic plant ingredients [2]. The company markets itself as "internationally awarded natural cosmetics" and centres its range on the RimitaDeo, RimitaOats and RimitaGold product lines.

The brand is best known in the Nordic natural-beauty scene for its aluminium-free RimitaDeo deodorant and its oat-based RimitaOats soaps and cleansers, several of which have won organic-beauty awards between 2022 and 2025. Rimita Green remains active, with new blog content published as recently as March 2026 [3].

Origin & founders

The company grew out of its founder's interest in clean living. Minna Uusitalo has described first applying principles of dietary purity to cosmetics: "I started using clean ingredients in cooking a long time ago... I drew my attention to skin care." She founded Rimita Green with her son to, in the company's words, "promote awareness of natural body care." Uusitalo has also framed the starting point as personal, citing "my personal wake up for harmful ingredients in cosmetic products" [4].

That concern was shaped by a specific belief the founders return to often — that "what we apply to the surface of our skin ends up all over our bodies through the bloodstream" [1]. From the outset the aim was to reconcile two things the founders felt were usually treated as opposites: pure natural raw materials and professional manufacturing standards. As the company puts it, "We wanted to combine pure organic ingredients with professional manufacturing processes," believing "there is a demand for this kind of concept."

Philosophy & positioning

Rimita Green positions itself at the intersection of natural authenticity and industrial quality control, arguing that natural cosmetics should perform as well as synthetic ones. Uusitalo has said the brand set out on the conviction that "natural products need to work as well as synthetic ones" [4]. The company's stated motto is "Your wellness is our call!", and it describes its products as functional, everyday alternatives rather than occasional treats.

Finnish nature is the brand's central reference point, and it draws a direct link to sauna culture — the company describes itself as "born from our deep love of Finnish nature and the sauna lifestyle," with products meant to suit the sauna environment. Rimita Green also makes an efficacy claim for its northern sourcing, stating that "according to studies, these Northern ingredients are more effective than their Central European competitors," which it attributes to plants concentrating antioxidants through harsh winters and long summer daylight.

Products & ingredients

The range spans face and body care, deodorants and natural fragrances, organised into three named lines: RimitaDeo (deodorants), RimitaOats (oat-based soaps and cleansers) and RimitaGold (argan-oil products). The company's listed bestsellers are the RimitaOats Hand and Body Soap, the RimitaDeo Original Deodorant and the RimitaOats Body Oil Cleansing.

Formulations are built around a small set of Nordic hero ingredients. The brand highlights five in particular: oats, sea buckthorn, greater plantain, yarrow and argan fruit. Sea buckthorn — which the company calls a "jewel" ingredient in its products and sources from the Ostrobothnian archipelago — is used for its vitamins A, C and E and omega fatty acids [1]. Oats appear across the range as a gentle, soothing cleanser, while argan oil, sourced from Morocco, anchors the RimitaGold line. The RimitaDeo deodorant is formulated without aluminium and baking soda, and the company has published consumer-facing arguments for avoiding aluminium in deodorants.

Sustainability

Circular economy is a defining theme of the brand's sourcing. Rimita Green makes several of its key ingredients from food-industry by-products: oat oil, oat-derived xylitol and sea buckthorn seed oil, the last recovered as a residual from sea buckthorn juice production. The oat xylitol used in its RimitaOats Facial Mist is sourced from the Finnish food company Fazer's factories in Lahti as a by-product of oat food production [5]. According to a NATRUE feature, the company also reuses packaging to minimise waste, runs on green electricity and donates hygiene products to families in need [4].

For argan oil, the company describes an ethical-sourcing model: "RimitaGold argan oil only contains hand-picked argan fruits," which it says avoids mechanically damaging rare argan trees, and it states that it pays "extra premium" to support the Berber women who harvest the fruit. Products are manufactured in Pietarsaari, Finland.

Rimita Green states that its products are "tested on people, not animals," and its RimitaDeo deodorant is described as NATRUE certified, vegan and cruelty-free [6]. The company has said it holds eco-certificates for its RimitaDeo and RimitaDeo Sensitive deodorants, and its managing director has publicly endorsed the NATRUE standard, calling it "a well-established and highly appreciated certification Standard" that assures customers products are "manufactured following the highest standards" [4].

The RimitaOats Hand & Body Soap was recognised at the Nordic Natural Beauty Awards in 2022 and named Europe's best organic soap at the European Natural Beauty Awards in 2023 [4]. The RimitaDeo deodorant was voted Best Organic Deodorant in the Nordics at the 2023 Nordic Natural Beauty Awards and, in 2024, Best Ecological Deodorant in Sweden by the beauty editors of the newspaper Aftonbladet [7]. The RimitaOats Facial Mist won an Excellence Award at the 2024 European Natural Beauty Awards, and in 2025 the RimitaOats Body Oil Cleansing received a Beauty Oscar in Sweden.
