Overview
ROKUA Skincare is a Finnish natural-cosmetics line for men, founded in 2019 by Jari Niitynperä [7]. Built around Nordic raw materials and named after Rokua National Park in North Ostrobothnia, it presented itself as Finland's first domestically made men's skincare brand to carry FI-Natura natural-cosmetics certification [8]. The line has since been folded into the Finnish company Luonkos: the original standalone website now redirects to a Luonkos collection page, and only a single co-branded product remains in circulation [3]. The brand has shown no independent activity since 2023 and is treated here as dormant.

Origin and founders
ROKUA was created by Jari Niitynperä, who had spent more than twenty years in the consumer-goods sector, including a long period as a manager at a large cosmetics and household-products company [5]. According to the retailer PUR-kauppa, he set out to build a genuinely Finnish natural-cosmetics range designed specifically for men's skin, using raw materials drawn from Nordic nature. The founder's stated rationale rested on a claim that men's skin is roughly 25 percent thicker than women's and therefore calls for a different formulation [5].
The name was a deliberate choice. Rokua is a national park and UNESCO Global Geopark in the Muhos, Utajärvi and Vaala area of North Ostrobothnia; the regional newspaper Kaleva reported that the export-minded business selected a product-line name intended to work abroad as well as at home [6]. In the same 2019 feature, the founder set a goal of becoming the European market leader in the men's-grooming category within three years.
Philosophy and positioning
The brand described its aim as high-quality, easily approachable and environmentally friendly skincare rooted in Nordic nature [8]. It positioned itself squarely within the late-2010s wave of Finnish clean beauty and men's grooming, marketed under the tagline "Face The Nature." ROKUA framed its products as certified natural cosmetics made entirely in Finland from domestically sourced raw materials, with fragrances the company characterised as mild and fresh.
Products and ingredients
The launch range comprised three products: a face moisturizer (50 ml), a face wash or cleansing gel (100 ml) containing menthol, and a beard oil (30 ml). Blackcurrant seed oil was presented as the line's star ingredient, alongside Finnish spruce extract, sodium hyaluronate, a fermented polysaccharide and menthol. Reviewers noted dark grey cardboard packaging with glass containers.
After the move to Luonkos, the surviving product is the Rokua x Luonkos Oil Cleansing Cake, a waterless bar the retailer Charlemagne Premium describes as combining cleansing, balancing and moisturising in one step, made with natural oils and clay and doubling as a beard oil.
Sustainability
ROKUA's products carried FI-Natura natural-cosmetics certification and were manufactured in Finland; the company stated that its products were never tested on animals [5]. On the environmental side, the brand committed to donating one percent of its revenue to environmental causes and entered a 2019 partnership with WWF Finland focused on protecting the Baltic Sea [7].
Ownership and current status
ROKUA began as an independent, unfunded venture and was later absorbed into Luonkos, a Finnish natural-cosmetics maker based in Naantali [1]. Around 2023 the two announced a collaboration, and the co-branded Oil Cleansing Cake was launched [13]. The former standalone site, rokuaskincare.com, now redirects into the Luonkos collection page for the partnership [3]; that collection displays no products, and the original ROKUA product pages return errors.
The only item still in circulation is the Rokua x Luonkos Oil Cleansing Cake, listed by third-party retailers such as Sokos and Stockmann, largely at clearance or member pricing. The last visible brand activity dates to the 2023 Luonkos announcement [13]. On this basis the standalone brand is best described as dormant, effectively continuing only as a co-branded product under Luonkos.
There is a discrepancy over the founding date. Contemporary Finnish reviews and a 2019 Kaleva feature place the launch in 2019 [7][6], while the business database Tracxn records a founding year of 1956 — a figure that most likely reflects the founder's year of birth rather than the brand and is not supported by any other source [9].
