Summary

Overview

Rosalique is a British skincare brand founded in 2018 that specialises in products for redness-prone and sensitive skin, particularly the visible signs of rosacea. It is built around a single flagship, the Rosalique 3 in 1 Anti-Redness Miracle Formula, a tinted day cream that combines instant colour correction, soothing actives and sun protection. The brand was launched by Claudia Talsma, its director and co-founder, together with her husband's father, the German bio-scientist Dr Martin Schiele, who developed the underlying formulation philosophy [6].

The company positions itself as a specialist rather than a broad-range skincare house, stating that it aims to be the leading brand for skin sensitivity and erythema, the medical term for red skin. Its parent operation is linked to Salcura Natural Skin Therapy, a sister brand focused on conditions such as psoriasis and acne, whose work in natural, bio-active formulation predated and informed Rosalique's creation [6].

Origin and founders

Rosalique grew out of roughly a decade of formulation experience at its sister brand, Salcura. According to Cosmetics Business, a UK trade publication, the brand was celebrating its first birthday in May 2019, placing the launch in May 2018 [6]. The company describes its origins as reaching back further still: on its about page it states that its work with bio-active formulations began in 1999, referring to the earlier biomedical research of its founding scientist rather than to the Rosalique brand itself.

The brand was developed in collaboration with Swiss and French dermo-cosmetic scientists, and Rosalique describes its philosophy as combining "family values with Swiss-French dermo-cosmetic engineering." That phrasing describes the science partnership rather than the company's location: trade press records Rosalique Skincare Limited as UK-headquartered, while the founding scientist is German [6]. The brand's own framing therefore reflects where its formulations were engineered, not where the company is based.

Products and innovation

The brand's central product is the Rosalique 3 in 1 Anti-Redness Miracle Formula, a green-tinted cream that the company says instantly conceals redness, soothes the skin over time and protects it long term, summarised in the tagline "Instantly conceals – Gently Treats – Protects Long Term." The product works through micro-encapsulated pigments, which Rosalique describes as green-coloured micro-balls that release fine colour pigments on application to neutralise redness through colour correction. The reviewer Tori Crowther, writing for Marie Claire UK, described the effect as working through colour theory and noted a satin finish that can stand in for foundation or a tint.

The formula launched in 2018 with SPF 25 and was later reformulated to its current SPF 50; the higher factor was described as a planned upgrade at the time of launch [6][1]. Rosalique lists a range of soothing and moisturising actives in the product, among them alpha-bisabolol derived from German chamomile, zeolite, panthenol (provitamin B5), urea and shea butter. It also uses IBR-CalmDeAge, which it describes as a certified upcycled date-seed extract rich in polyphenols.

The brand later widened its line beyond the single flagship, introducing additional products including a 3 in 1 Balm Cleanser and a Soothing Night Cream around six years after the original formula. Rosalique markets the range specifically for rosacea, couperose, keratosis pilaris and other forms of facial redness and inflammation.

Recognition

Rosalique's flagship received approval from the Good Housekeeping Institute in 2019, scoring 77 out of 100 after eight weeks of consumer testing using instrument-based skin measurement [4]. In the Institute's consumer panel, most testers reported that their skin looked less red immediately after application, and the Institute's then editor-in-chief described it as her "desert island beauty product of choice" [4].

The product has since collected several beauty-press awards. It won a double gold at the 2024 Pure Beauty Awards, taking Best New Moisturiser and Best New Cleanser [5], and was named Best For Redness at the 2021 Tatler Beauty Awards [5]. Marie Claire UK described the formula as "one of the leading products on the market designed to reduce redness," with its reviewer calling herself "a huge fan of this product for years" [7]. The brand refers to the flagship as a cult product for people with redness-prone skin, a framing echoed by that long-running editorial support [7].

Current status

Rosalique is an active brand. It operates dedicated storefronts for the UK, EU, US and Ireland, and its most recent dated activity includes the 2024 Pure Beauty Awards wins and the expansion of its product line [5]. Reviewers note that the brand's core product is made specifically with redness in mind and may not suit all skin tones or those without significant redness [7].
