Overview
SCARSOFT is a scar-care cream with a sun protection factor (SPF) of 30, sold through pharmacies in a 19-gram tube and presented by the German pharmaceutical company Laves-Arzneimittel GmbH. Its user leaflet calls it a "Dermakosmetikum", or dermocosmetic, and describes it as a cream for fresh and old scars left by injuries, operations, burns and grazes, for acne scars, and for massaging into stretch marks, including those from pregnancy [4].
The brand consists of a single product. It is made in Poland by PNN Pharmaceuticals and distributed in Germany by Laves, whose headquarters are in Ronnenberg near Hannover [4]. When SCARSOFT was launched, and which company owns the brand name, has not been made public. The cream remains on sale, with its current user information dated December 2024.
Ownership and production
The product's paperwork names two companies in two countries. The user leaflet lists Laves-Arzneimittel GmbH, of Barbarastraße 14 in Ronnenberg, under "Distribution Deutschland", and names PNN Pharmaceuticals Sp. z o.o. Sp. k., based in Przeźmierowo, Poland, as the manufacturer [4]. SCARSOFT is presented only on the Laves website, where it appears in the company's product menu alongside its medicines and supplements, and Germany is the only market for which a distributor is named. The brand is therefore most closely tied to Germany, while the cream itself is produced in Poland.
Neither company is identified in public sources as the owner of the SCARSOFT name. The leaflet presents Laves as the German distributor rather than the maker, and names PNN only as the manufacturer. The ownership of the brand is therefore unknown.
Outside Germany, the 19-gram cream has also been listed by independent online resellers, including one operating from addresses in the United Kingdom [8]. Laves itself invites companies interested in distributing its products abroad to contact its export department, but it does not name any foreign distributor for SCARSOFT [7].
The distributor: Laves-Arzneimittel
Laves-Arzneimittel is considerably older than SCARSOFT, and its founding date should not be read as the brand's. The company was founded on 26 June 1908 in Hannover by Ernst Laves, then head of the pharmacy at the city's Nordstadt hospital and later a professor at the Technische Hochschule Hannover, who began factory production of a preparation called Lecin [2]. His son Wolfgang Laves took over in 1927 and introduced the bacterial preparations that later became the company's Colibiogen line.
The business was bombed out of its Hannover premises in 1943, rebuilt in Neustadt am Rübenberge after the war, and moved its headquarters to Empelde in Ronnenberg in 1979. A production site in the Swiss canton of Lucerne followed in 1998. Since 2002 the company has been run by the fourth generation of the Laves family [6].
Laves describes its specialism as naturopathic medicine for the gut and the immune system, and most of its range consists of medicines and food supplements in that area [1]. Skin care is a small side of the business. The company's skin section, "Die Haut" (the skin), links to SCARSOFT, and the product page lists one other skin product, Dermabiogen, a skincare line the company promotes as friendly to the skin's microbiome. The company's published history, which runs from 1908 to 2019, does not mention SCARSOFT.
Philosophy and positioning
The idea behind SCARSOFT is to combine scar-care ingredients with sun protection. Laves says the cream was developed with natural ingredients and an SPF of 30 because scars should be protected from sunlight, and it adds that sunlight also passes through clothing [3]. The product page frames scar care as a long process: according to the company, early and consistent care can improve both healing and the final appearance of a scar.
Laves lists the goals of scar care as speeding up healing, keeping the tissue elastic so the skin does not feel tight, shielding the scar with a protective film, preventing raised scar tissue, reducing redness and itching, calming inflammation and swelling, and keeping the skin moisturised. The company describes the cream as non-greasy, quick to absorb and odour-neutral.
Directions are simple. The cream is massaged into the scar several times a day once the wound has closed. The company says the length of use varies from person to person and can run to several months, as is usual for scar care. It adds that the sooner care begins, the shorter the treatment tends to be, while older scars take longer.
Products and ingredients
SCARSOFT has one product: ScarSoft Narbencreme mit Lichtschutzfaktor 30 (scar cream with SPF 30), sold in a 19-gram tube. Laves highlights six ingredients and attributes a specific role to each [3]:
- Onion extract (extractum cepae), which the company says counteracts inflammation and swelling. - Silanol, an organic silicone derivative, described as caring for the skin and speeding up healing. - Aloe vera, said to help the skin hold moisture. - Vitamin E, presented as helping to fend off free radicals. - Tiger grass (Centella asiatica extract), described as supporting wound healing. - Tamarind extract, to which the company attributes antibacterial and pain-relieving properties.
The full ingredient list also includes several sunscreen filters, among them octocrylene, ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate and ethylhexyl triazone, as well as glycerin, a fermented yeast filtrate and fruit extracts of sea buckthorn and acerola. Methylsilanol hydroxyproline aspartate is the form in which the silanol appears.
According to the leaflet, the cream is suitable for children from the age of three. It should not be used on open wounds, near the eyes or on mucous membranes, or on the breast area by breastfeeding mothers. The leaflet describes occasional itching as a sign of the healing process and says it is not normally a reason to stop. Once opened, the tube is meant to be used within six months.
The company does not cite clinical studies for the cream, and no third-party certifications are documented for it.
Current status
SCARSOFT is active. The product page on the Laves website was live in September 2026, carrying a 2026 copyright notice and linking to a user leaflet revised in December 2024 [4]. The cream is sold through pharmacies under the German pharmacy product number PZN 13751541 [3].
The brand has no website or social media accounts of its own. It is presented only as one product within the Laves range, and no press coverage, awards or independent reviews of it are documented.
