Skan-Medic

Skan-Medic is a Danish manufacturer of fragrance-free skincare and pharmacy preparations, based in Skanderborg. The company was founded by pharmacist Aage Rasmussen and grew out of a single cream he began producing for patients with sensitive and irritated skin. Its range is sold mainly through Danish pharmacies, and in March 2025 the company was acquired by Brygge Partners, a Danish family office, alongside its sister company Pharma-Skan [1].

Rather than positioning itself as a cosmetics label, Skan-Medic presents its work as pharmaceutical-grade care for skin that needs relief rather than decoration. As the company puts it, "it's not about how it looks. It's about the content."

Skan-Medic traces its start to Aage Rasmussen, a pharmacist who ran a pharmacy in Skanderborg and encountered patients whose skin problems responded well to a particular cream. That cream had been developed by dermatologists at Marselisborg Hospital but was available only on prescription. Rasmussen obtained permission to produce it, along with royal Danish approval to use the Marselisborg name, and built a company around it [2].

The earlier date most likely reflects an older legal entity predating the Skan-Medic brand and product launch; the company itself dates its founding to 1995, and its materials describe the products as "developed and produced in Denmark" since that year.

Skan-Medic frames itself around efficacy rather than cosmetic appeal, describing its mission as being for those whose skin "needs more than just care." Packaging, it says, is built around function rather than looks.

The company's flagship is the Marselisborg cream, made according to formulations developed by dermatologists at Marselisborg Hospital. Beyond the flagship, the catalogue leans heavily toward classic pharmacy preparations rather than conventional cosmetics: carbamide (urea) and zinc-based creams and pastes, a sulphur paste for irritated skin, a pH 3.5 cleansing soap, and an aluminium chloride solution for heavy underarm sweating. In March 2025, Skan-Medic and its sister company Pharma-Skan were acquired by Brygge Partners, a Danish family office. The sale was handled with Oaklins Denmark acting as adviser to the sellers, whose co-owners included Susanne Rasmussen [1][7]. In the deal materials, Skan-Medic is described as a maker of over-the-counter creams, lotions and ointments, including the Marselisborg cream sold to Danish pharmacies, which the adviser characterised as patented [7].

Skan-Medic remains an operating brand following its 2025 acquisition [1]. Its website is live, its product catalogue is active, and its goods continue to be distributed through Danish pharmacies. The company's scope is essentially domestic, centred on the Danish market from its base in Skanderborg.
