SONNENMOOR is an Austrian family company that makes moor- and herb-based natural products in Anthering, a village near Salzburg. It was founded in 1972 by Franz Fink and his wife Anna [1], and it still works from recipes Fink developed himself, built around healing moor and medicinal herbs. Franz Fink was born in 1921 in Pischelsdorf, near Mattighofen [8]. Raised largely by his grandmother, a folk healer known locally as a "Wenderin," he grew up around medicinal plants; the company traces the family's herbal knowledge back more than 150 years [8]. After serving in the Second World War and working as a sales representative, Fink turned to herbal remedies, developing his own teas and salves to treat chronic health problems. The raw material at the center of the range is moor from the Leopoldskron bog near Salzburg, which a regional magazine described as roughly 8,000 years old and formed under water and without air from hundreds of herbs, plants and berries [7]. The company says its products use healing moor and medicinal herbs in pharmacopoeia or organic quality, and contain "only the best from nature, without artificial preservatives or chemical additives."

SONNENMOOR states that its products are vegan, free of artificial colors and flavors, and made without preservatives, added sugar or alcohol. All manufacturing takes place at the Anthering site.
