Summary

Overview

The Skin Agent is a Swedish personal-care company founded in 2016, with its first products delivered in January 2017 [1]. Based in Saltsjöbaden, outside Stockholm, it develops natural, functional skincare centred on a narrow but distinctive purpose: preventing skin from chafing and blistering during physical activity. The company describes its debut balm as Sweden's first anti-chafe product [1]. It is run through The Skin Agent Sweden AB, a privately held company, and was founded by Linda Nilsson, who serves as chief executive [2].

The brand remains active. Its most recent public activity dates to December 2025, when it announced an award for its sunscreen, and it distributes through roughly 70 retailers across the Nordic region [2].

Origin & founders

The company traces its beginning to a practical question: how to keep thighs from chafing in the summer months without wearing extra clothing, and using only natural ingredients [1]. From that starting point it built a line of anti-chafe balms and sticks, positioning its first product as Sweden's earliest entry in the category. Linda Nilsson founded the company and leads it as chief executive.

History & milestones

After establishing itself on the Swedish market in 2017, the company expanded into the other Scandinavian countries in 2020 [3]. Its wider retail reach arrived in 2024, when its flagship Move Anti Chafe Balm launched at Apoteket, the Swedish pharmacy chain, in 156 selected stores, alongside an expansion into the Finnish market [4]. In a press release marking the pharmacy partnership, Nilsson said that placing the products in physical pharmacies had been part of the company's strategy from the outset [4].

In 2025 the company introduced a next-generation sunscreen and won the "Bästa SPF" (Best SPF) award at the Stockholm Beauty Week Award for its Reflective UV Protection line [2].

Products & innovation

The core range consists of anti-chafe and anti-friction balms, each aimed at a different use. The Move Anti Chafe Balm addresses thigh chafing; the Active Anti Friction Balm targets rubbing from clothing, shoes and equipment and is described by the company as "marathon tested"; and the Comfort Anti Chafe Balm is intended for underwear and intimate areas. The company also makes a Reflective UV Protection SPF 50 sunscreen — an ultralight, transparent formula it says is enriched with sea buckthorn antioxidants — and a Horse & Hound Anti Chafe Stick for animal care.

According to the company, the balms rely on allantoin, an ingredient long used for its soothing and calming effect on irritated skin. The sunscreen uses non-nano zinc oxide as its UV filter, which the company describes as biodegradable and safe for marine ecosystems [5]. The Skin Agent says its products are approved by Läkemedelsverket, Sweden's medical products agency, and registered in the EU's Cosmetic Products Notification Portal (CPNP) [5].

Philosophy & positioning

The Skin Agent frames function as its guiding principle — in its own words, its main focus "will always be to develop functionality," and products "have to do what it says on the tin" [1]. The company presents its range as fully vegan and made only with natural and, where possible, organic ingredients, excluding parabens, SLS, mineral oils, paraffins and artificial colours or fragrances [5]. Manufacturing takes place in Sweden and Finland.

Inclusivity is a recurring theme in how the brand describes its audience. "Blisters have no boundaries," it states, listing customers who are "young, old, thin, curvy, athletes, ill, healthy". Its tagline, "We got you covered," ties the range's two strands — protection from chafing and from sun — to an active lifestyle.

Recognition

Beyond the 2025 Stockholm Beauty Week award for Best SPF, the company reports earlier recognition: a Green Beauty Award in Finland in 2017 for the Move Anti Chafe Balm, and a "Bästa Sportprodukt" (Best Sport Product) prize at the Organic Beauty Awards in 2021 for the Active Anti Friction Balm. No substantial mainstream beauty-press coverage of the brand was found.

Current status

The Skin Agent is an active Swedish brand with a multi-region Nordic presence. It continued publishing press releases through December 2025, sells through roughly 70 retailers as well as Apoteket pharmacies and the beauty e-tailer Lyko, and launched a new sunscreen in 2025 [2]. No Wikipedia entry or major editorial profile of the brand exists, consistent with its niche position in personal-comfort and functional skincare.
