Summary

Overview

VITAWOHL is a German foot-care and body-care line made by Schmees, a manufacturer of personal-care, household and garden products based in Twistringen, Germany [4]. The range is small and practical: eleven products, nearly all of them for the feet, from a urea balm for very dry skin to a pumice sponge, a foot bath salt and a shoe deodorant spray.

The line has no standalone corporate identity of its own. It appears as one of about twenty brand names in its owner's catalogue, and no founding year or founder is documented for it. The independent wholesale marketplace Qogita describes VITAWOHL as "a body care brand specialising in targeted skin treatments" [8]. The brand is active, in the sense that its range is currently listed and sold.

Ownership

VITAWOHL belongs to the Schmees group, which presents the line as one of its own brands on the website of Schmees Kosmetik GmbH [4]. The company traces its roots to 1954, when Knut Schmees senior laid the foundation for the group [2]. Two firms were brought in through acquisitions in the following decades: Chemie- und Kosmetikfabrik Schmees GmbH & Co. in 1971 and HIT Products GmbH & Co. in 1989. The two merged in January 2001, and the combined company took the name Schmees GmbH in 2016 [2]. That 1954 date belongs to the parent group; it is not a founding date for VITAWOHL itself, whose launch year is unknown.

Schmees describes itself as a developer, producer and distributor in one, making goods both under its own brand names and as private labels for large retail customers [1]. VITAWOHL sits alongside other care lines such as Herbamedicus, Dermatopan and Ream Med, while other brands in the same catalogue cover car care, household cleaning and garden fertiliser [3]. The wider group also includes the animal-feed producer Kraftfutter-Meyer, the fertiliser plant Düngemittelwerk Coswig and Pharmamedico GmbH [7]. According to Schmees, the company holds DEKRA and IFS HPC certification, and it is a member of the German cosmetics and detergents trade association, the Industrieverband Körperpflege- und Waschmittel.

Accounts of who makes the products do not fully agree. The owner's site lists VITAWOHL as its own brand, and the Urea Fuß Balsam carries the Schmees article number 306990 there; the same balm is sold under the barcode 4009737306993. The online pharmacy Shop Apotheke, however, names Axisis GmbH as the manufacturer of the VITAWOHL Urea Fuß Balsam [9]. How Axisis relates to the brand, whether as a distributor, a former owner or in some other role, is not publicly documented.

Philosophy and positioning

Schmees publishes no separate mission statement, tagline or brand story for VITAWOHL. The slogans on its website, such as "the Care Company" and "Body, Garden, Home", belong to the parent company rather than to the line.

What defines the brand is its focus. Almost every item is aimed at a specific everyday foot problem: dry or hardened skin, cracked heels, tired feet and odour. Qogita frames the range around targeted treatments and ingredient-led formulas for regular use [8].

Products and innovation

The owner lists eleven VITAWOHL products [5]. Most are foot-care items:

- Urea Fuß Balsam (urea foot balm, 75 ml), described by the company as an intensive treatment for very dry skin that absorbs quickly and contains 10% urea [6]. Urea is a compound that helps the skin hold moisture. - Hornhautbalsam (callus balm, 100 ml), which Qogita says is formulated with 7% urea and lanolin to address rough, calloused skin [8]. - Schrundensalbe, an ointment for cracked skin. - Fußbalsam (foot balm) and Fußbutter (foot butter, 250 ml), the latter made with shea butter. - Fuß-Badesalz, a 600 g foot bath salt with peppermint oil. - Fuß-Pflege-Spray, a foot deodorant spray, and Schuh-Deo-Spray, a deodorant spray for shoes. - Bimsschwamm, a pumice sponge for smoothing rough skin.

Two products sit outside the foot-care core. Hirschtalgcreme is a cream based on deer tallow, the rendered fat of deer. Eis Gel mit Menthol is a cooling gel containing menthol, which Qogita lists as a soothing topical treatment.

No proprietary technologies, patents, clinical studies or third-party product certifications are documented for the line. Its formulas lean on long-established ingredients such as urea, lanolin, shea butter, peppermint oil and menthol rather than on new actives.

Current status

VITAWOHL is active. As of October 2026 all eleven products appear on the owner's website, and the range is also offered by an online pharmacy and through Qogita's wholesale platform [8]. The trade name is styled with a registered-trademark sign, VITAWOHL®, on at least one pharmacy listing.

No new VITAWOHL products have been announced recently. The product announcements Schmees published between November 2023 and June 2025 covered other brands, among them Herbamedicus and Ream Med, and none involved VITAWOHL. No recent launches, campaigns or press coverage for the brand are documented.
