VT Cosmetics

VT Cosmetics is a South Korean skincare and makeup brand based in the Gangnam district of Seoul. It reached a wide international audience first through makeup collaborations with the K-pop group BTS, and later through its Reedle Shot line of at-home microneedling serums, which spread virally online in the mid-2020s. The name is explained by the company as standing for "In-Vogue and Timeless" [1].

Sources disagree on exactly when the brand began. One brand-story account places the cosmetics company VT Cosmetics in 2014, while dating the corporate entity to 2019, when VT Cosmetics merged with GMP, a laminating and film-printing manufacturer established in 1986, and the combined company adopted the name VT [9]. The brand's own site does not state a founding year.

Following the 2019 merger, the company operates under the corporate name VT GMP Co., Ltd., which stated at the time that it would concentrate on the cosmetics and entertainment businesses [9]. GMP, the merger partner, had been established in 1986 as a laminating-machine and film producer.

VT frames its skincare around the idea that most products fail to penetrate the skin, positioning its formulas as a way to reach beyond the surface. Its stated mission is "Skincare Must Go Beyond the Surface," and the company describes its approach as boosting the skin's basic strength to recover from daily stress rather than treating problems reactively [2]. Alongside this, the brand presents itself as combining trend-driven style with what it calls timeless beauty.

The brand's central line is the Reedle Shot range, a group of serums built on what VT calls Cica Reedle, described as a patented acid-free spicule technology. Spicules are microscopic needle-like particles intended to open channels in the skin's outer layer and carry active ingredients deeper. The line is graduated by intensity and frequency of use, from the daily Reedle Shot 100 through the every-three-days Reedle Shot 300 and the weekly Reedle Shot 700, with a milder Reedle Shot 50 for beginners and variants targeting sensitivity, hydration, texture and dark spots.

A second pillar is PHYTO PDRN, a plant-derived version of PDRN that VT sources from Korean ginseng rather than the salmon-derived form more common in the category. The company says this vegan PDRN offers 5.5 times better absorption than salmon-derived PDRN [2]. Other recurring ingredients across its skincare include centella asiatica, hyaluronic acid, collagen, tranexamic acid and green propolis. VT states that it uses plant-based PDRN sourced from Korean ginseng, which it describes as a vegan formulation [4].

Who What Wear UK reviewed the Reedle Shot 100, with associate beauty editor Shawna Hudson calling it "a game-changer" and framing it as an affordable at-home version of Korean liquid microneedling that competes with in-clinic treatments costing far more [6]. The review situated the product within the wider glass-skin and liquid-microneedling trends coming out of South Korea.

The brand gained earlier mainstream visibility through BTS. VT Cosmetics released a color-correcting compact with SPF 50 in a first collaboration, followed in October 2018 by a fuller makeup collection of lipsticks, foundation and tinted CC cream, decorated with the BT21 avatars created with LINE Friends [7][8]. At the time of that collection, coverage noted the brand did not yet ship to the United States [7].

VT sells through a broad multi-channel network. In South Korea this includes duty-free operators such as Lotte, Shilla and Hyundai, the retailer Olive Young, and five physical brand stores in Seoul. Internationally the brand reaches Asia, the Americas, Europe and Oceania through retailers and marketplaces including YesStyle, Stylevana, iHerb and Amazon storefronts across multiple countries [3].

The brand is active. Its Reedle Shot line was reviewed by editorial press and sold across many international retail channels as of 2024, and the parent company continues to expand its PDRN and Reedle Shot offerings [6].
