Summary

Overview

Allpresan is a German medical skin-care brand built around foam creams, a lightweight cream format that the company first applied to diabetic foot care in the late 1990s. It is made by neubourg skin care, a family company from Greven in the Münsterland region of north-western Germany, and is sold mainly through pharmacies, online pharmacies and podiatry practices. Over time the range has widened from the feet to dry skin, atopic dermatitis, psoriasis and hands.

The brand has been under new ownership since 2024, when the Swedish pharmaceutical group Avia Pharma acquired neubourg skin care [7]. Allpresan continues as a brand within the Avia group and remains visibly active: in 2026 it announced a relaunch aimed at medical skin care "from head to foot" [2].

Origin & founders

The brand traces its story to Fritz Neubourg, an entrepreneur from the Münsterland. According to the company, he developed a new care concept for dry and stressed skin in the mid-1990s, with a particular focus on the feet of people with diabetes. Allpresan says the early work showed that an effective formula was not enough on its own if people found it awkward to apply every day. The foam cream grew out of that observation: a product meant to be rich enough to care for very dry skin while spreading easily and absorbing quickly.

The company also explains the name. Allpresan, it says, combines "All" for allergy, "Pre" for prevention and "san" from the Latin sanus, meaning healthy.

Which year counts as the beginning depends on the milestone chosen. The brand's own timeline records the registration of the Allpresan trademark in 1992 and the market launch of the first foam cream for diabetic foot care in 1999 [2]. Elsewhere on its website the company states that it has been developing foam creams since 1998 [3], the year Fritz Neubourg founded neubourg skin care. This article follows 1998 as the founding year, while noting that the name was registered six years earlier and the first product reached the market a year later.

History & milestones

The first decade was shaped by the founding family. In 2001 Dr. Thomas Neubourg joined the business, and the company describes this as the point at which it began expanding beyond foot care into broader skin care. In 2006 management passed to the second generation; by 2024, the trade press reported, the founder's son was running the firm.

A second turning point came in 2012, when the company introduced what it calls skin-related lipids into its formulas. These are fats such as squalane and ceramide NP that resemble the lipids found naturally in the skin's outer barrier. The idea of combining these lipids with the foam cream base became the core of the brand's later technology claims.

By the time of the 2024 sale, the foam cream had become the centre of neubourg skin care's product range. In its own words, the company "set a new standard of care" more than 25 years ago as the inventor of the foam cream for the feet, a description that comes from the brand rather than from an independent assessment.

The most recent milestone on the company timeline is a brand relaunch in 2026, repositioning Allpresan as medical skin care for the whole body rather than primarily a foot-care name [2].

Ownership

Allpresan was family-owned for its first quarter-century. On 2 February 2024, Avia Pharma Holding AB, a Stockholm-based company, announced that it had completed the acquisition of Neubourg Skin Care GmbH [7]. The German pharmacy trade publication APOTHEKE ADHOC reported that the deal took effect on 1 February 2024 and that owner Dr. Thomas Neubourg had sold his shares to the Swedish buyer [6]. The purchase price was not disclosed.

Stefan Lang became managing director after the sale. Thomas Neubourg was reported to be staying on as an adviser for an initial period. Accounts of the company's size at the time differ slightly: Avia's announcement gave annual revenue of about EUR 15 million and around 70 employees, while APOTHEKE ADHOC put the headcount at 60 with similar revenue. The trade press also reported that Neubourg operated a second site in Toronto, Canada, serving the North American market.

Avia Pharma was founded in 2016 and focuses on medically positioned over-the-counter and prescription products in dermatology, allergy, women's health and urology. Before buying Neubourg, it had acquired the German dermatology specialist Allergika in 2022. Avia's chief executive, Jacob Calmvik, said the purchase fitted the group's strategy of acquiring strong local brands "such as Allpresan, in the DACH region", meaning Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The trade press described the deal as part of a buy-and-build strategy aimed at creating a northern European pharmaceutical company.

Within the Neubourg portfolio, Allpresan sits alongside other foot- and nail-care brands. Avia's announcement named Podoexpert and Onyfix, and Fusspunkt belongs to the same group.

The legal name attached to the brand is not stated consistently across the company's own pages. The legally required imprint on the brand website names neubourg skin care GmbH in Greven as the operator and says the registered trademarks belong to that company [5]. Structured data on the same website, however, gives the organisation's legal name as nsc pharma GmbH & Co. KG, "a member of AVIA PHARMA group" [1]. The brand's history page refers to the buyer as AVIA Pharma Germany GmbH, while the 2024 announcement names Avia Pharma Holding AB. All of these sources agree that Allpresan belongs to the Avia group.

Philosophy & positioning

Allpresan presents itself as medical skin care rather than cosmetics. Its tagline, "Weil Haut Expertise braucht" ("Because skin needs expertise"), sums up the positioning. The company's central idea is that good care works on the skin barrier, the outer layer that keeps moisture in and irritants out, rather than only on the surface. It says its products are developed on the basis of dermatological research and in close exchange with specialists in podiatry, dermatology, diabetology and paediatrics.

The brand's stated mission is to give people "a good feeling in their skin" through solutions based on dermatological findings and medical experience. Its vision, in its own words, is to be the first choice for medical skin care wherever particular skin needs call for real expertise. Allpresan lists five values: pioneering spirit, competence, approachability, responsibility and passion.

Allpresan stresses its German roots. The company says its products are developed and produced in Germany and describes the brand as "made in Germany". On sustainability it offers only a general statement, saying that sustainability is not an add-on but part of its attitude; no concrete targets or third-party certifications are documented.

On its homepage, the brand describes itself as "No. 1 in medical foot care", a claim footnoted to pharmacy sales data for the calluses-and-cracked-skin category over the twelve months to January 2026 [1]. Avia's 2024 announcement similarly called Allpresan the German market leader in foam-based foot care [7]. Both statements come from the brand and its owner rather than from independent reviewers.

Products & innovation

Every Allpresan product is built on the foam cream format. The company describes the texture as combining the richness of a classic cream with an unusually light feel: it spreads evenly, absorbs quickly and, according to the brand, leaves no greasy film. Allpresan also says the foam forms a breathable protective net on the skin. A 125 ml can, the company states, provides up to 160 applications.

The brand groups its technical claims under two names. The BarrioExpert technology is the foundation of all its foam creams, according to Allpresan, while the HautRepair principle ("skin repair") describes how the foam base and skin-related lipids are meant to work together. The company calls this combination a patented active principle, though it does not publish a patent number.

Key ingredients across the range include urea, often at 8 or 10 per cent, together with squalane, ceramide NP, panthenol, glycerin, saccharide isomerate and an extract of the beard lichen Usnea barbata. Products that have defined the range include:

- Allpresan No 3, a foam cream for very dry feet with skin-related lipids, glycerin and 10% urea; - Allpresan diabetic Schaumcreme INTENSIV, a medical device for diabetic foot skin with panthenol, saccharide isomerate and 10% urea; - Allpresan hydro, for very dry, rough skin, with skin-related lipids, panthenol and 8% urea; - Allpresan atopix, for itchy, reddened and dry skin, combining skin-related lipids and panthenol with beard lichen extract; - Allpresan No 5, a foam cream for sweaty feet.

The brand supports these products with several clinical claims. Allpresan states that its formulas are tested in clinical studies to pharmaceutical standards and that independent institutes confirm their tolerability. It says it has shown that the skin barrier regenerates measurably within four weeks, an effect it reports for both very dry foot skin in diabetes and eczema-prone skin in atopic dermatitis [3]. The company also cites a placebo-controlled study of the diabetic INTENSIV foam cream, which it says showed moisturising and barrier-improving effects [4]. For individual products, it reports that No 5 reduces foot sweat and that No 3 reduces the presence of various pathogens on the skin. These results are reported by the company itself.

Beyond the core range, the brand issues seasonal limited editions. A summer edition scented with orange blossom includes foam creams for very dry skin with aloe vera, jojoba and olive oil, and for very dry, scaly skin with 10% urea, evening primrose oil and aloe vera.

Current status

Allpresan is an acquired brand: since February 2024 its maker, neubourg skin care, has been part of the Swedish Avia Pharma group [6]. The brand itself remains active. In 2026 it announced a relaunch toward medical skin care for the whole body, and its website continues to promote new products, including a seasonal limited edition. The company still operates from Greven, and its products are sold mainly through pharmacies, online pharmacies and podiatry and foot-care practices.
