Summary

Overview

Anomalia Paris is a French niche perfume house founded in 2022 by Elena Spirina, with roots between Paris and the Côte d'Azur [2]. The company makes gender-borderless eau de parfum it calls "off-script," and takes its name from the Greek anomalos, meaning irregularity — a theme it carries through to faceted, asymmetrical glass bottles that change appearance depending on the angle they are viewed from. The house remains active: it publishes regularly, sponsors female drivers in the Dakar Rally, and distributes across roughly two dozen countries in Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

Spirina works with a rotating group of established perfumers rather than a single in-house nose, and the brand positions itself in the prestige tier of independent French perfumery. Coverage has been limited but notable, including an editorial feature in Lampoon Magazine in 2023 and a 2024 review by the perfume critic Luca Turin.

Origin & founders

By her own account, Spirina is a long-time collector who spent more than fifteen years acquiring perfumes and art, with a working background in marketing, film and fashion. According to the company, the idea took shape during the spring 2020 COVID lockdown, when she began composing indoor candle fragrances; that experimentation led her to enrol at the Grasse Institute of Perfumery before launching the brand [8]. Spirina describes her own perspective in personal terms — "I am Anomalia," she says, framing the house around direction, art and speed.

The name itself signals the brand's central idea. As Lampoon Magazine noted, "Anomalia" derives from the Greek for irregularity, and the company builds its identity around imperfection and difference "from the norm" [8].

Philosophy & positioning

Anomalia Paris describes itself as "a French fragrance house dedicated to Luxury Off-Script," and frames its work around what it calls "Radical Reality" and "Radical Beauty." Its fragrances are presented as genderless — "sillage without a passport," in the brand's words — and intended to be layered and reworn rather than confined to traditional categories. The company markets this approach under the label "Versatile Essences," which it describes as "a living language designed for movement."

The house sits in the luxury price tier, with eau de parfum priced in the region of €205 to €255 for 50 ml [7]. It is sold both directly through its own EU and US sites and through a network of certified stockists, including department-store partners such as Galeries Lafayette, Printemps, Harvey Nichols and Rinascente [3].

Products & innovation

Anomalia's range centres on eau de parfum, alongside candles and home diffusers. Signature scents include Sahara 4800, a woody-leather composition the brand ties to its Dakar Rally sponsorship, and Jardins Humanistes, a white-floral fragrance composed by Bertrand Duchaufour [5]. Rather than relying on one perfumer, the house commissions a roster of established noses; in addition to Duchaufour, its credited perfumers include Nicolas Bonneville (Cérémonie, a tribute to The Doors), Sidonie Lancesseur (Sahara 4800) and Karine Vinchon-Spehner (SAMŪM), several drawn from houses such as Firmenich and Robertet. Recurring materials across the line include oud, leather, saffron, iris, vanilla and cedarwood.

The size of the collection has grown over time, which is reflected in differing counts across sources. Lampoon Magazine described seven fragrances in 2023 [8], and Luca Turin wrote in December 2024 that the house "currently have ten" [9]; the brand's own collection page now lists fourteen named eau de parfums plus a discovery set [7]. The figures are consistent with steady expansion rather than disagreement, each accurate at its date of publication.

The brand emphasises craft in its packaging as much as its scent. It partners with the heritage French glassworks Pochet du Courval and Waltersperger for its vessels; Lampoon reported that production uses traditional glass furnaces, citing Pochet du Courval as more than 400 years old [8]. The crystal-glass diffusers and candle jars are designed for reuse as decorative objects once empty.

Sustainability

According to the company, Anomalia prioritises refillable, recyclable and plastic-free products, and all of its perfumes are made in France. A central part of this claim is the reusable packaging: the brand designs its crystal-glass diffuser and candle vessels for a second life as decorative pieces rather than disposal. The glassworks partnerships with Pochet du Courval and Waltersperger underpin this positioning.

Recognition & press

Press coverage of the house has been modest but specific. Lampoon Magazine published an editorial in July 2023 on the brand's irregular design language, its founder and its French glasswork heritage [8]. In December 2024, the perfume critic Luca Turin reviewed the line on his Substack, describing the fragrances as "all of them of high quality and well put together" and singling out Narcotic Bohemic, Shaman and Cérémonie as standouts [9]. Fragrantica also covered the house at its 2022 launch [10]. The brand's own press page displays the logos of several major titles, including Vogue, Elle and Harper's Bazaar, though without linking to specific articles.

Current status

Anomalia Paris is active. Its blog publishes new posts through at least April 2026, and the house took part in Milan Design Week that month [4]. It continues its annual Dakar Rally sponsorship of female drivers and maintains retail distribution across Europe, the Middle East and parts of Asia. As a house founded in 2022, it does not yet have an entry in reference works such as Wikipedia.
