Summary

Overview

Beauté Pacifique is a Danish skincare company based in Hadsund, in North Jutland. It was established in 1997 by Flemming K. Christensen, an engineer who built the business with his wife Margith [3]. The brand is known for vitamin A–based anti-ageing creams developed in cooperation with Danish dermatologists, and it positions its products as cosmetics held to pharmaceutical manufacturing standards. It remains family-run and active, with new product lines released as recently as 2025.

The company describes its work as resting on two cornerstones, effect and documentation, meaning it aims to formulate products whose results can be measured rather than merely claimed. Much of its identity is tied to a single early product, the vitamin A cream Crème Métamorphique, and to the idea that skincare can be assessed with the same diagnostic rigour as medicine.

Origin and founders

Beauté Pacifique began in a yellow farmhouse surrounded by trees near Hadsund. In the early days Flemming and Margith made creams in their own kitchen, with family members assembling and labelling tubes together on Saturday evenings [4]. The company frames this as a decision the whole family took together, and the family structure has remained central: Flemming and his daughter Amalie lead Beauté Pacifique itself, while production is handled by the sister company GMPack [4].

The brand-stated founding year is 1997, though the company distinguishes this from 1994, the year it says the underlying concept was first formulated [3]. The founder's surname also appears in two spellings: the company consistently uses Flemming K. Christensen [4], while a UK editorial profile renders it Flemming Christiansen and describes the founders as engineers with a background in advanced medical electronics and skin diagnostics. That engineering origin is unusual for a skincare house, and the same profile notes the contrast, observing that the brand was "a little different" from the doctor- or dermatologist-led ranges more common in the field [12].

Philosophy and positioning

Beauté Pacifique presents itself as a maker of cosmeceuticals, meaning cosmetic products intended to have measurable dermatological effects. The company reframes the term "anti-age" away from a purely cosmetic, wrinkle-free goal, describing its aim instead as keeping skin strong and resilient and preserving the healthy processes of younger skin. Its stated mission is to improve people's quality of life through healthier skin [3], and its Swedish-market tagline translates as "expect more from your skincare."

Central to this positioning is documentation. Representatives offer free ultrasound skin scanning at retailers, and the company says it uses ultrasound imaging to show changes in skin structure objectively. In 2023 it introduced a proprietary scanner it calls the Dermavalidator for this purpose.

Products and innovation

The brand's signature product is Crème Métamorphique, a vitamin A cream. According to the company, when it reached the market in 1997 it was the only skincare product in the world able to document an ability to significantly rejuvenate skin [4]; the Danish company history dates a formal scientific study of the cream to 1998 [3]. The formula uses two forms of vitamin A, retinyl palmitate and retinyl acetate, carried in squalane, and is described in an ingredient database as a patented vitamin A anti-wrinkle cream [15].

This delivery method is core to the brand's technical story. The company says it uses a specialised squalane-based transport system to help vitamin A penetrate the skin without irritation, which it presents as allowing higher-dose use. It also notes that its formulations already meet European limits on vitamin A concentration that take effect later this decade.

The wider range covers facial and body care, sun protection and hair products, and includes lines such as Crème Paradoxe, which the brand pairs with the antioxidants resveratrol and proanthocyanidin, the Symphonique anti-ageing series launched in 2022, and the Chaperone anti-age line launched in 2025. Beauté Pacifique also markets more than 50 vegan products across several categories [9], though it states it is not an entirely vegan brand. All products are manufactured in Hadsund, and the company says its GMPack subsidiary produces them under pharmaceutical-grade GMP quality control that exceeds standard cosmetic requirements [4].

Recognition

In 2011, Queen Margrethe II of Denmark visited the company's private clinic in Hadsund during a royal summer tour, and a BBC television team filmed a documentary at the headquarters the same year [4]. Editorial coverage has been modest but generally favourable. A 2011 review at the South African blog Lipgloss is my Life concluded of Crème Métamorphique that "in short, it really does work," reporting improved fine lines and skin radiance without irritation [14]. The blog 40+ Style described the company as a Danish maker of advanced cosmeceuticals, noting that it originated in medical-equipment manufacturing before moving into skincare. No major industry awards are documented in available sources.

Clinic

Since 2010 Beauté Pacifique has run a private medical skin clinic in Hadsund called Ambulatoriet, led by the specialist dermatologist Christian Steenbeck. It offers treatments including facials, injectables, micro-needling and ultrasound skin analysis, and the clinic states that its preliminary examinations are free.
