Overview
BodyBoom is a Polish body- and skincare brand founded in Kraków in 2015 by Ariel Adamski and Jakub "Kuba" Marzec [12]. It built its name on coffee-based body scrubs — a category the company describes as Poland's first body scrub made with real coffee — and grew through social-media-led direct sales into roughly 25 countries before either founder had spent a day in the cosmetics industry. In June 2019 the brand was acquired by Bielenda Kosmetyki Naturalne, one of Poland's largest cosmetics companies, and it remains an active part of the Bielenda group today.
Most sources date the founding to 2015, though the business database Tracxn records it as 2016 [13]; the earlier year is supported by a 2015 trade award, an October 2015 industry article, and the founders' own account.

Origin & founders
BodyBoom began with two people and no cosmetics experience. Adamski had spent three years at Google handling consumer marketing in Poland and had earlier started a tourism venture; Marzec had run several businesses in healthy food and dietary supplements, with a background in online sales [11]. Listening to women in their circle, the pair settled on a single hero ingredient — coffee — and built a body scrub around it, combining Robusta coffee with brown sugar, chocolate, plant oils such as macadamia, argan and almond, vitamin E and Himalayan salt.
The venture was bootstrapped from Marzec's Kraków apartment, which, in his own description, "resembled a combination of office and warehouse." The founders funded it from their own pockets, never raised venture capital, and met every Sunday with friends to pack the week's orders by hand. Distribution was internet-first from the start, driven by social media rather than retail shelves — a model that placed the brand within the wave of Instagram-led, single-ingredient beauty labels that defined the mid-2010s, much as the Australian label Frank Body had done with coffee scrubs a couple of years earlier.
History & milestones
Growth was quick. By 2018, three years after launch, the company reported a presence in 25 countries, more than 20 employees and hundreds of thousands of units sold [11]. Key markets included France, the Nordic region through H&M, Poland through the perfumery chains Douglas and Super-Pharm, and the United Arab Emirates, which the founders singled out as a standout market. The legal holding company behind the brand, Xrocket sp. z o.o., was formally incorporated only in November 2017, after the brand was already trading — a gap that the packet notes as the likely reason some databases record a later founding year.
On 1 June 2019, Bielenda Kosmetyki Naturalne acquired the BodyBoom trademark, intellectual property and product line from Xrocket [9]. The price was not disclosed. Adamski and Marzec exited, and in a joint statement said they were "convinced that thanks to over 30 years of experience and established market position, Bielenda will successfully continue Body Boom brand development" [9]. Xrocket ceased operations after the sale.
Under Bielenda, the brand was folded into the group's brand family and extended with sister lines: FaceBoom for facial care, BabyBoom for children's care, and HairBoom, whose Rice Rehab range launched in 2023 [20]. The parent group itself drew further investment over these years, with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development backing Bielenda in 2024 [21].
Ownership
BodyBoom is owned by Bielenda Kosmetyki Naturalne, a family cosmetics company founded in 1990 by Barbara Bielenda and based in Kraków [16]. The group is backed by the Polish private-equity firm Innova Capital, and its portfolio — which lists BodyBoom alongside FaceBoom, BabyBoom, Soraya, Dermika, Tołpa and others — is publicly confirmed in the investor's own communications [14]. By its own corporate figures, the Bielenda group spans around 2,000 products and distribution in some 55 countries. US-facing operations run through a subsidiary, Bielenda US Inc, registered in Brooklyn, New York, while manufacturing remains in Kraków [3].
Philosophy & positioning
The brand carries two distinct voices across its markets. The Polish heritage presentation is body-positive and playful: it personifies BodyBoom as a caring male character "who knows how to care for the female body," and the parent group's portfolio page urges readers to "free yourself from imposed standards of perfect appearance," adding that "there is no age or ideal weight" [7]. The US site, by contrast, presents a cleaner, results-led face-skincare identity. Its stated mission is to deliver "highly effective, yet affordable skincare products powered by nature," carrying the line "Natural, earth-friendly skincare that works!" Positioned at the mass-market price tier, the company frames its formulas as plant-powered and accessible rather than premium, and stresses that "skincare is not one-size-fits-all," favouring mixable routines over fixed regimens.
Products & innovation
The founding product, and still the heritage hero, is the original coffee scrub — described by the company as Poland's first body scrub based on real coffee. The Polish range grew into a family of coffee scrub variants, among them Pure Africa, the active-charcoal Magic Carbon, the coconut Sweet Coco and a hemp Cannabis Oil version, alongside a vegan trio of flax, berry and grape-seed peelings, tanning products under the Bronze line and dry-skin creams under Wild Skin. In its early descriptions the brand marketed the scrubs as addressing concerns such as cellulite and stretch marks.
The US assortment sold through iambodyboom.com is curated differently. It drops the coffee scrubs almost entirely in favour of facial skincare — cleansers, toners, serums, moisturisers, a face cream with SPF 50, and a structured three-day "Skin Cycling" serum system built on the routine popularised by the dermatologist Whitney Bowe. The packet treats these as two assortments of one brand rather than two brands, a split the company's own terms of service confirm by naming both the Polish parent and the US entity [3]. Since the acquisition, the brand has also drawn on Bielenda's in-house research and development, which the parent group presents as a competitive strength.
Ethics & sustainability
BodyBoom positions itself as a vegan, cruelty-free line. According to its US site, the products are "100% vegan and cruelty-free," contain up to 99% naturally derived ingredients, and use no synthetic fragrances or dyes [4]. The company cites certification from the animal-rights organisation Viva Vegan and from PETA, an environmental BIO ETIQUETTE label, and 100% recyclable cardboard packaging [2]. It also describes its packaging as made from recyclable materials and says it continues to look for ways to reduce its environmental footprint.
Recognition
In its founder-led years the brand collected a run of Polish industry awards, listed on its heritage site across 2015 to 2020 — among them Stylowy Kosmetyk (Stylish Cosmetic), Doskonałości Roku (Excellence of the Year), Produkt Roku from Women's Health and Men's Health, and Best Beauty Buys from InStyle. Its founding story was also covered at length in Polish business press, including a 2018 Marketing i Biznes profile that traced the apartment-bootstrap origin, the social-media-led growth and the 25-country expansion.
Current status
BodyBoom is active. It operates a US direct-to-consumer site under Bielenda US Inc and a Polish heritage site carrying the original coffee scrubs, maintains active social-media accounts, and is distributed across European pharmacies and e-commerce as well as Nordic retailers. As a brand within the Bielenda group, it continues under corporate ownership with ongoing product development, including the 2023 HairBoom launch.
