Overview
Byly is a Spanish personal-care brand that concentrates on deodorants. It belongs to Laboratorios Byly, S.A., a company based in Barberà del Vallès in the province of Barcelona, and it uses the line "Experts in deodorants" across its website. The company dates its deodorant work to 1942 [1]. Beyond underarm care, the brand covers hair removal under the Byly Depil name and foot deodorant sprays under Byrelax.
Byly is an active brand. In December 2024 its Extrem Citrus deodorant was among the winners of Spain's "Productos del Año 2025" awards [11], and in the same month the Spanish trade publication Alimarket reported that the Byly group was investing to serve new private-label contracts [13].
History & milestones
Little of the company's early history is public. Byly's website tells no founding story and names no founders. Its account of the past rests on a single sentence: "since 1942", the company says, a constant commitment to research and development has allowed it to develop its deodorants. This article follows that date as the founding year.
Most of the later record comes from trade press rather than from the company itself. By late 2024 Alimarket was describing Grupo Byly as a manufacturer and marketer of perfumery and personal-hygiene products. On 9 December 2024 the publication reported that the group was carrying out an investment plan running into early 2025, aimed at new private-label contracts, meaning products made for other companies to sell under their own names [13]. According to Alimarket, the plan included new production lines, and the group reported double-digit growth over the previous year.
Four days later, on 13 December 2024, Alimarket listed Laboratorios Byly among the winners of the "Productos del Año 2025" awards for the Extrem Citrus range. The newer Extrem Intense deodorants, promoted with a "100 hours" message, followed on the brand's website.
Ownership
Byly is the house brand of Laboratorios Byly, S.A., whose name appears in the copyright line of the brand's website [1]. The owner is the brand's own namesake company rather than an outside conglomerate. Trade press refers to the wider business as Grupo Byly and names Eudermín as a second personal-care brand in its portfolio, alongside Byly [13].
The company is not only a brand owner. Its private-label work means it also makes products for other businesses. It also acts as a distributor: according to Alimarket, Laboratorios Byly distributes the Water Wipes brand of baby wipes exclusively in Spain [11].
Philosophy & positioning
The company describes itself as "the benchmark in efficacy and skin care", and its product pages return again and again to the same two ideas. One is long-lasting protection against sweat and odour. The other is gentleness on the thin skin of the underarm. Laboratorios Byly calls product quality "one of the pillars" of the company and says it puts great emphasis on meeting all legal requirements in each of its activities.
Manufacturing standards sit at the centre of how Byly presents itself. Laboratorios Byly states that it is certified to ISO 22716 [2], the international good manufacturing practice guide for cosmetic products. Good manufacturing practice is a set of rules meant to ensure that products are made consistently and to defined quality standards. It is a factory standard, not a cruelty-free, vegan or organic label. The company's about page frames quality control around the "5 M's" (people, premises, machines, methods and materials) and the Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle for continuous improvement.
The company also says it produces its deodorants under ISO 16128, a guide to technical definitions for natural and organic ingredients and products. Its website notes that this guide was developed by a working group led by Stanpa, the Spanish national association of perfumery and cosmetics. ISO 16128 sets out how natural and organic content is defined; it is a guide rather than a certification. The same page points out that, for cosmetic safety, compliance with the European Union's cosmetics Regulation 1223/2009 is mandatory, while following ISO standards is voluntary.
Products & innovation
Byly's catalogue is organised into a handful of families. The largest is Byly Effective Deodorants, which groups the Extrem, Sensitive, Organic and Men lines together with creams such as Protect Control, Long Lasting Cream and the ADVANCED Hydra Fresh and Hydra Sensitive formulas. Separate families cover the BIO natural-origin deodorants, the Farma hypoallergenic range, Byrelax foot care and Byly Depil hair removal.
### Extrem
The Extrem line is built around duration. Byly says the Extrem Citrus roll-on and spray are formulated with "twice as many deodorizing active ingredients" and a fragrance that boosts effectiveness, and it claims protection for up to 100 hours. The roll-on uses a rotating ball for precise application, while the spray is marketed as a deodorant with "smart technology that reacts to movement" that dries quickly enough to apply under clothing.
The newer Extrem Intense roll-on and spray carry the same 100-hour claim, while an Extrem Intense cream is described as giving up to 72 hours of protection. The company presents all three as leaving no residue and no white marks on skin or clothing. Extrem Protect and Extrem Freshness complete the line.
### Sensitive and skin-care formulas
The Sensitive products are where Byly's skin-care positioning is clearest. The company calls Byly Sensitive Perfumless "the first hypoallergenic and Perfumless deodorant" [6], and says it contains silk to help care for the skin under the arms. Byly makes a similar first-of-its-kind claim for Sensitive SILK Long Lasting Cream. It describes the cream as the first hypoallergenic deodorant to be clinically tested under strict dermatological control to minimise the risk of allergies. According to the brand, the cream's resistance to white spots was demonstrated by INTEXTER, a textile research institute. Across these formulas Byly also names silk proteins and calamine, which it says softens and soothes the skin. Sensitive Soft and Sensitive Calm complete the line.
Several creams use named ingredients or complexes. Protect Control contains a vitamin complex called VITAL ET, which Byly says has an antioxidant action, together with glycerin. The Organic line includes a green tea version, which the company says also contains mint, and a cannabis version whose formula is based on a vegetable cell oil derived from cannabis stem cells.
### BIO range
The BIO range, made up of Control Fresh 48h for all skin types and Dermo Defense 48h for the most sensitive skin, is Byly's natural-origin line. The company promotes it as aluminium-free and says the range is formulated without any animal ingredients or by-products. Its BIO manifesto adds that the products contain no genetically modified organisms and that most of their natural-origin ingredients come from renewable sources, with bamboo extract among the named components.
The brand's own pages give different figures for the share of natural ingredients. The BIO product page and the site-wide footer state 97% natural ingredients and 0% aluminium [5]. A banner on the brand's homepage gives 98% natural-origin ingredients, along with 0% aluminium and colourants [1]. The BIO manifesto, meanwhile, refers to "more than 96%" [3]. The brand's pages do not explain the difference.
### Farma, Byrelax and Byly Depil
The Farma range is a hypoallergenic roll-on that the company describes as alcohol-free, fragrance-free and paraben-free [7]. These claims apply to Farma specifically; most other Byly deodorants are fragranced, with the Sensitive Perfumless roll-on and an unscented cream among the exceptions. Byly says the Farma roll-on is effective for up to 72 hours without reapplication.
Outside underarm care, Byrelax is a line of foot deodorant sprays that the brand presents under the line "Experts in the care of your feet". Byly Depil is a hair-removal range. The company says its formula, enriched with organic aloe vera, removes hair in five minutes, and that cocoa butter leaves the skin soft and moisturised.
Recognition
Byly's most visible recognition is the "Producto del Año 2025" award in Spain. Alimarket reported that Laboratorios Byly was recognised in the body-hygiene category for the Extrem Citrus deodorant in roll-on and spray form [11]. The company was also recognised in the same round for Water Wipes, the baby-wipe brand it distributes. Winners in the wider personal-care field that year included products from multinationals such as L'Oréal, Procter & Gamble and Unilever. Byly displays the award badge on its homepage and on its deodorant range pages.
No third-party certifications beyond the ISO 22716 manufacturing standard are documented for the brand.
Current status
Byly is active. The Producto del Año award and the investment plan reported in December 2024 point to an operating manufacturer investing in new production lines. As of April 2026 the brand's website still showed the award badge and promoted the Extrem Intense deodorants with their 100-hour claim. The website is published in Spanish and English.
