Summary

Overview

Crossmen is a Spanish men's fragrance line owned by the global beauty group Coty [1]. Its flagship scent, Crossmen Original, was launched in 1989 and built its following as an affordably priced cologne sold chiefly through Spanish supermarkets. The brand remains active: its products are still produced and stocked at Iberian retailers as of 2026 [9].

Although Coty is a multinational headquartered in the United States [4], Crossmen is best understood as a regional Spanish line. It was conceived for the Spanish market, is manufactured locally, and is distributed almost entirely within Spain and the wider Iberian region. Fragrance encyclopedias and supermarket retail records both place its origin in Spain [1], while its corporate parent is the US-listed Coty group.

Origin and ownership

Crossmen has no proprietary brand website of its own; it is a house line produced by Coty and catalogued under the Coty name across fragrance reference sites. Coty's Spanish subsidiary, Coty Spain SL, is registered in Barcelona, with a manufacturing facility in Granollers, just north of the city [3]. Trade reporting has described the Granollers site as Coty's largest global fragrance production centre, and it is the plant that makes Crossmen for the Spanish supermarket channel [6].

The brand's exact founders and the perfumers behind individual scents are not documented, which is typical for value-segment supermarket cologne lines. An earlier hypothesis suggested Crossmen might have begun as a brand of the Spanish house Puig before passing to Coty. That idea is not supported by the record: Puig's documented brand history makes no mention of Crossmen [5], and fragrance catalogues list every Crossmen variant directly under Coty from the 1989 launch onward [1]. On the available evidence, Crossmen appears to have been a Coty creation from the start.

Products

The line centres on Crossmen Original, described as an aromatic men's fragrance. Its composition is built around bright citrus and fruit at the top — bergamot, grapefruit and pineapple — moving through black pepper, nutmeg and orange, and resting on a base of sandalwood, cedar and vanilla [1]. Several supermarket editions of the Original have circulated as colour-coded caps (green, yellow, blue and red) rather than as separately named perfumes.

Over the years Coty has extended the range with a series of flankers, including Crossmen Sport, Crossmen Oxford, Crossmen Ascot, and Crossmen St. Andrews, the last released in 2002 [12]. Many of these are sold alongside matching after-shave lotions, and the brand is also packaged as men's gift sets pairing eau de toilette with deodorant and after-shave [9].

Positioning and distribution

Crossmen sits firmly at the supermarket price tier. Spanish retail descriptions present it as a popular men's cologne offering a long-lasting, distinctly masculine scent at a competitive price [9]. Its primary route to market is the grocery shelf rather than the perfumery counter: it is widely sold through Mercadona, Spain's largest supermarket chain, and through multi-channel Iberian beauty retailers such as Arenal [10]. The brand's reach is essentially single-country, concentrated in Spain and the surrounding Iberian market.

Current status

Crossmen is an active line. Crossmen Original continues to be produced by Coty at Granollers and remains on sale through Mercadona and other Iberian retailers, with a men's gift pack listed at Mercadona in 2026 [9]. It has no standalone web presence or international marketing of its own, consistent with its role as a long-running regional supermarket fragrance rather than a globally promoted brand.
