Summary

Overview

Fitne is a German health-care brand based in Saarbrücken that makes organic dietary supplements alongside a small range of natural body care. The brand dates back to 1994, according to the German organic-trade magazine BioHandel and a 2019 press release from the investor Finexx [10][12]. Its history is mostly one of changing owners: it passed through a natural-cosmetics group then described as part of L'Oréal, a private-equity holding in Stuttgart, and, since 2024, the hands of its former managing director.

The company styles its name in capitals as FITNE, and its legal entity is FITNE Health Care GmbH. Trade press has also written it as "Fitné". The brand is active, with an operating webshop and a German-language identity built around the tagline "Sei du selbst. In jeder Lebensphase." ("Be yourself. In every phase of life.").

Origin & founders

Little is documented about Fitne's beginnings. Both BioHandel and the Finexx release give 1994 as the year the brand was established, but neither names its founders or tells the founding story. The company's own website offers no history page.

One point needs clarifying. Company-register data lists FITNE Health Care GmbH with a partnership agreement dated 6 June 2019, first registered in Bonn and later moved to Saarbrücken [13]. That date belongs to the legal entity created when the brand changed hands in 2019, not to the brand itself, which the trade sources place in 1994.

History & milestones

For its first two decades Fitne's story is largely undocumented. The record becomes clearer from 2014, when the brand became part of LOGOCOS Naturkosmetik AG, a natural-cosmetics company that the Finexx release describes as a subsidiary of L'Oréal at the time [12]. At that point, according to the same release, Fitne's range ran to 27 dietary supplements and cosmetic products, sold mainly through health food stores and organic shops.

On 16 July 2019 Finexx announced that GSE Vertrieb, a Saarbrücken supplement company in its portfolio, had acquired the Fitne brand from LOGOCOS [12]. GSE, itself founded in 1994, develops and distributes certified organic supplements for the natural-food trade. Matthias Heining, quoted in the release as co-managing director, said at the time that the purchase would let GSE benefit further from growing demand in that market.

A year later, in June 2020, BioHandel reported that the brand was to be relaunched in autumn 2020 [10]. The magazine named Steffen Donath, who had around 15 years of experience in the organic and natural-food sector, as managing director of the new Fitne company.

Ownership

After the 2019 deal, FITNE Health Care GmbH and GSE Vertrieb both became subsidiaries of BioneXX Holding, which was majority-owned by the Stuttgart financial investor Finexx [12]. The two companies stayed in that holding for about five years.

In August 2024 BioHandel reported a management buy-out. Karim Chaouch, who had run both GSE and Fitne as managing director from 2022 to 2023, bought the two companies from Bionexx Holding [11]. The purchase price was not disclosed. Chaouch had previously spent more than 15 years at the food group Danone. He said he was pleased to be able to shape the company's future again together with its 30 employees.

Fitne has no corporate parent today. GSE Vertrieb operates as its sister company, and its legal notice names Chaouch as managing director [2]. The same notice lists Green Future E-Commerce GmbH, at the same Saarbrücken address and under the same managing director, as responsible for fulfilment and sales.

Public sources differ on who leads the company. A company-register aggregator still shows Steffen Oliver Donath as managing director [13], while the brand's own legal notice names Karim Chaouch [2]. The register entry appears to reflect the period around 2020, before the change in leadership.

Philosophy & positioning

Fitne presents itself less as a beauty label than as everyday support for different stages of life. Its website speaks to the cycle, menopause and changing energy needs, and promises products that are "clearly formulated" and suited to daily routines. The company describes itself as "more than just any product brand" and says it offers honest help rather than empty promises.

Four short principles sit at the centre of that message. Fitne says its formulas are compact and reduced to the essentials ("Weniger ist mehr"), that its products are tested for purity, and that they are developed with professionals on a scientific basis. It also stresses transparency, telling customers exactly what each product contains. The company claims to combine decades of know-how with current research.

Products & innovation

Supplements make up most of the range. Of the 18 products listed on the brand's website in October 2026, the large majority are capsules and nutrient complexes, covering areas such as magnesium, iron, B vitamins, joint health, the immune system and menopause. A grapefruit seed extract, sold as a dietary supplement, sits among the bestsellers, and the range also includes a sea-water nasal spray.

The topical products are few. The most prominent is the Bio Ringelblumen Salbe, an organic calendula ointment with olive oil that the company describes as rich, protective and soothing, and intended for sensitive or irritated skin. It belongs to a line built around traditional herbal knowledge.

The rest of the body care sits in an acid-base ("Säure-Basen") line, which pairs mineral supplements with alkaline bath and body products:

- Basen-Bad, an alkaline bath with organic jojoba oil and wheat protein - Basische Körperlotion, a body lotion at pH 7.5 with plant oils, organic aloe vera and organic shea butter - Basischer Duschbalsam, a shower balm at pH 7 with organic almond oil

Fitne labels these products as vegan, certified natural cosmetics, and says the lotion and shower balm are dermatologically tested [8]. The lotion is described as paraben-free and without synthetic fragrances. The company does not name the certifying body on its product pages. An undated retailer page states that Fitne follows BDIH standards for natural cosmetics, and describes an earlier range that included Fitne tea and cosmetics using Bach flower essences [14]. That range does not appear in the current line-up.

A further line, Juventa Care, is presented on the website as nutrition-based beauty care using tested ingredients and plant extracts. As of October 2026 the collection held no products [4].

Current status

Fitne is active. Its webshop is operating with a current product range, and the most recent dated news about the company is the 2024 ownership change [11]. The brand's activity appears concentrated on Germany: its website is in German only, and trade press has described its sales as running mainly through health food stores and organic shops. Together with GSE Vertrieb, it remains a small business of around 30 employees.
