Summary

Overview

Graham Hill is a German men's grooming brand built around hair, shaving and fragrance products for salons and barbershops. It is one of two haircare brands owned by Hans Conzen Kosmetik GmbH, a family company based in Tangstedt, near Pinneberg in Schleswig-Holstein. The line is named after the British racing driver Graham Hill, and is positioned as a homage to him as an embodiment of the British gentleman.

The brand was founded by Stephan Conzen, the company's managing director [3], and was first presented to the trade at the Top Hair Trend & Fashion Days in 2017 [7]. The company's own pages do not give a launch year for the line itself; its references to more than fifty years of experience describe the parent firm, Hans Conzen Kosmetik, rather than the Graham Hill range [1].

Origin and naming

The brand takes its name and visual identity from Graham Hill, the only driver to have won motorsport's Triple Crown — the Formula 1 World Championship, the Indianapolis 500 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. According to the company, the founder met Hill in 1974 at the Nürburgring and came to regard him as the incarnation of a British gentleman: polite, cosmopolitan and stylish [6]. The name was chosen years later to convey what the company describes as "an English attitude, sporty, yet elegant and classy."

The styling carries the motorsport theme through. The logo draws on the helmet design shared by Graham Hill and his son, the 1996 Formula 1 World Champion Damon Hill — white oar blades from the London Rowing Club set against a dark Prussian blue. Individual products are named after circuits and sections where Hill raced, among them Indianapolis, Le Mans, Monaco and Silverstone. Damon Hill approved the brand concept, and trade coverage of the launch noted that the family supports the line [7].

Ownership

Graham Hill is owned and distributed by Hans Conzen Kosmetik GmbH, whose registered office is at Lehmkoppel 2 in Tangstedt/Pinneberg [3]. The company says it has spent more than fifty years making skincare and haircare products, and that it operates two haircare brands sold directly to salons: GLYNT and Graham Hill [1]. It describes a workforce of more than ninety office and warehouse staff and a field team serving salon customers in Germany and Austria.

Philosophy and positioning

The brand is presented as a dedicated men's line for salons that want to serve male clients, summed up in the tagline "Gentlemen, start your grooming." Its English-language site frames the approach as "the science of nature," and the company states that an ingredient is included only where it has a proven beneficial and relevant effect on hair or skin. Graham Hill says its products are paraben-free, dermatologically tested, not tested on animals, and vegan wherever possible [6].

Distribution is restricted to the professional channel: the company states that the brand is supplied "only directly to hair salons," supported by a salon-finder tool and seminars that train staff to market men's services [1]. Estetica Magazine quoted founder Stephan Conzen at the launch saying that men-only salons need their own men's brand.

There is some inconsistency in how the brand describes where its products are made. The UK site states that they are "developed in Switzerland with pure plant ingredients" [6], while the German legal imprint records only Hans Conzen Kosmetik GmbH in Tangstedt, Germany [3]. No specific manufacturing site is named; the Swiss reference appears to point to formulation rather than to the German parent company.

Products

The range covers cleansing and care, styling and finishing, beard care, shaving, and an Eau de Toilette line, alongside sets, travel sizes and shaving accessories. At launch the brand offered seventeen products across three categories [7]. Named products include the STOWE Wax Out Charcoal Shampoo and the RASCASSE Beard Wash Cleansing Powder, described by the company as the first enzyme powder for gentle beard washing, as well as the MULSANNE beard oil. The fragrance work runs to notes such as bergamot, water bamboo, blue lotus, eucalyptus and red cedarwood in one blend, and green tea, jasmine, linden blossom, honey and amber in another.

Recognition

Coverage of the brand has come mainly from trade and lifestyle press. Estetica Magazine Deutschland featured the launch in 2017 [7]. In 2019 the UK outlet The Arbuturian published a review by Nick Hammond, who sampled the shaving soap, after-shave tonic, moisturiser, shampoos, scalp tonic and hair cream and called the products "the cream of men's grooming products" and "the best I have come across" [8], noting their use by high-end barbers. On its UK site the company states that its products are used by more than 15,000 stylists and barbers worldwide [6].

Current status

Graham Hill is an active brand. The company's site carried a current Eau de Toilette campaign and a 2026 copyright notice, runs webshops in German, English, French and Dutch alongside a separate UK site, and distributes across Germany and Austria with export into other European markets.
