Summary

Overview

Humdakin is a Danish home-care and body-care company founded by Camilla Schram, who launched the brand on 30 November 2016 [7]. It began as a range of natural household-cleaning products and organic textiles built around the idea that everyday cleaning could be a pleasant ritual rather than a chore, and it has since grown a personal-care line — hand soaps and lotions, body lotion and wash, deodorant, a facial day cream and other items — which is the part of the range carried in beauty retail. The legal entity is Humdakin ApS, a private limited company, and the brand reports that its products are sold in more than 50 countries.

The company positions itself around allergy-friendly, nature-derived formulas paired with minimalist Scandinavian packaging. It remains active and growing: it was certified as a B Corporation in 2025 and promotes recent Danish Beauty Award recognition.

Origin and founder

Camilla Schram started her first business — a cleaning company — while studying law in Denmark, an experience the company credits with showing her a gap in the market for cleaning products that were both effective and well designed. According to the brand, she then spent five years developing formulas intended to be effective, hypoallergenic and gentle on skin before the official launch in late 2016 [7].

The name Humdakin is a personal one. The company says it combines parts of three names close to the founder: "Hum" from her daughter Nynne, "Da" from her partner Dan, and "Kin" from her dog King [1].

Brand-authoritative sources, including Humdakin's own journal, consistently date the launch to 30 November 2016. A 2022 editorial interview paraphrased the timeline loosely as roughly four years earlier, implying a start around 2018 [9]; the brand's stated 2016 date is the one given across its own materials.

Products and positioning

Humdakin's first products were household items — a universal cleaner, an anti-calc spray, a glass cleaner and a dish soap — which the founder still describes as core essentials [7]. The range has broadened to laundry care, home fragrance, interior textiles and a personal-care collection. The body and skincare line includes numbered hand soaps and hand lotions in scent pairings such as Chamomile & Sea Buckthorn and Elderberry & Birch, along with body lotion, body wash, a conditioner, a deodorant, a face and body mist and a facial day cream.

Formulas draw on a set of 18 plant ingredients the company describes as sourced from Scandinavian nature, among them sea buckthorn, chamomile, elderberry, birch, peony and cranberry. The brand states that all its products are vegan and not tested on animals, and that they avoid parabens, dyes, essential oils and chemical perfumes [3]. In place of essential oils, which it says are a common cause of allergies, Humdakin describes using an allergy-friendly perfume formulated without the 26 fragrance substances known to trigger allergic reactions. Product development is guided by five stated pillars: allergy-friendly formulation, environmental responsibility, fragrance quality, effectiveness and design aesthetics.

Philosophy

The company frames its mission as teaching people "to keep clean rather than to clean," aiming to turn routine home and body care into a calming, sensory experience rather than a task [1]. Minimalist packaging is part of that intent: products are designed to be attractive enough to leave on display, drawing on the Danish notion of hygge and on touches the brand compares to hotel guest amenities. Its tagline summarises the positioning as "Responsible Cleaning Products & Organic Textiles."

Sustainability

Sustainability is central to how Humdakin presents itself, under a "360 Degree Responsibility" heading. The company says its formulas are made as concentrated as possible to reduce packaging and waste, that its textiles use only organic and recycled cotton, and that it is moving from conventional plastic toward recyclable and biodegradable alternatives, with refill options offered [4]. For distribution it states a preference for sea and road freight over air freight, which it reserves for emergencies, and it aligns its commitments with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 8, 12 and 13. The brand also reports regular donations to Danish charities including Børns Vilkår, the Danish Hospital Clowns and the Danish Cancer Society.

In April 2025 the company was certified as a B Corporation, a standard assessing social and environmental performance [8]. Humdakin described the certification as confirmation that it runs its business "with a clear purpose" and as the start of "a new and even more ambitious journey" rather than an end point [8].

Recognition

Humdakin was named a winner at the Danish Beauty Award in 2024 [10], and its website promotes a further Danish Beauty Award, Functional Fragrance of the Year, dated 2026 [2].

Current status

The brand is active. It is sold internationally in more than 50 markets, has continued to launch products, and points to recent recognition and its 2025 B Corp certification as evidence of ongoing growth.
