Overview
Innopoo is a Danish haircare brand specialising in shampoos for sensitive scalps and dandruff. It is owned by Kurm Pharma ApS, a Vejle-based supplements and personal-care company, and its products are made in Denmark. The line is narrow and functional: three medicated shampoos sold mainly through Danish pharmacies and health retailers rather than as prestige cosmetics. The brand remains active, with current product pages and retail listings as of 2026.
The Innopoo name reaches back further than its present owner. According to Kurm Pharma, the range has helped Danish consumers "for decades" with sensitive scalp and dandruff problems [1], placing its origins well before Kurm Pharma itself was established.
Ownership and lineage
Innopoo's ownership has shifted between two related Danish companies, and sources disagree on which to name. The current brand site attributes the line to Kurm Pharma ApS [1]. Older third-party sources, including Danish Wikipedia and the health-information site netpatient.dk, instead describe the shampoo as a product of "Inno Pharma," a brand owned by Diafarm A/S [8][10].
Both accounts describe the same lineage at different points in time. Diafarm A/S was founded in 1980 by the veterinarian Johannes ("Johs.") Gjelstrup, originally as a Vejle veterinary practice that developed vitamin and mineral mixtures for animals [11][12]. The company grew into a supplements and care-products business, and its early shampoo line was marketed under the "Inno Pharma" name. In December 2017, Gjelstrup's sons Jacob and Jesper founded Kurm Pharma ApS as a separate company at the same Vejle address, dedicated to human-grade dietary supplements and cosmetics [13]. The human-oriented Innopoo shampoos sit with Kurm Pharma, while Diafarm has continued to focus on products for pets and production animals. Both companies remain under Gjelstrup-family ownership and share the Ferrarivej 12 address in Vejle.
The brand's own founding year is not documented; sources refer only to its presence "for decades" without giving a specific date for the shampoo line itself.
Products and positioning
The Innopoo range consists of three shampoos, each aimed at a scalp condition. The dandruff shampoo (Skælshampoo) combines piroctone olamine, salicylic acid and willow bark extract (Salix purpurea), and is described by the company as a triple-action formula that treats dandruff while moisturising the hair and scalp. The mild and sensitive variant (Mild & Sensitiv Shampoo) is built around aloe vera (Aloe barbadensis leaf juice) and marketed for sensitive scalps, with the tagline "gentle care for sensitive scalp without fragrance."
The third product, the tar dandruff shampoo (Tjære-skælshampoo), carries the most history. Despite the "tjære" (tar) in its name, the shampoo no longer contains actual tar; according to netpatient.dk it uses shale oil — sulphur-bearing oil extracted from stone — as its active anti-dandruff ingredient [10]. The same source describes it as the only tar shampoo intended for human use on the Danish market [10], a reference to an older European category of brown-bottled "terva" tar shampoos that had largely left Danish shelves by 2007–2008. Kurm Pharma markets the variant as "the ultimate shampoo against dandruff."
Across the line, the company states the shampoos are pH-neutral at around 5.5, suitable for all hair types, and free from fragrance and dyes. All three are produced in Denmark.
Distribution
Innopoo is sold through Danish pharmacies, the drugstore chain Matas, and health-product retailers such as Med24 and Helsam. Distribution is limited to Denmark, and the brand is positioned as functional treatment haircare rather than premium cosmetics.
Current status
The brand is active. Kurm Pharma maintains current product pages for all three shampoos, and the line remains available across major Danish pharmacy and health retailers as of 2026. Innopoo operates as one line within Kurm Pharma's wider portfolio, which also includes the Luz Norte skincare brand, an aloe vera care series and the company's dietary supplements. No standalone social-media presence or independent website for Innopoo was found.
