Overview
Milano Fragranze is an Italian niche perfume house based in Pioltello, on the eastern edge of Milan, and operated through the company Masque srl. It was founded in 2020 by the team behind Masque Milano, under the artistic direction of Alessandro Brun, a Milan native [5]. The brand is built around a single idea: each perfume is tied to a specific place in Milan, from landmarks such as the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II and La Scala to lesser-known corners of the city. It remains in active production, with a collection of eleven fragrances and new editions released as recently as 2025.

Origin and founders
The brand was created by Alessandro Brun, who has described being born and raised in Milan and developing what he calls "an incredible affection for this city." According to the company's account, the project grew out of years of revisiting childhood landmarks across decades and noticing how their essence endured even as the city changed around them. Brun framed the result as a long-held wish: "For years I have been thinking that one day I would develop something to let the world know how beautiful this city is."
Milano Fragranze was launched by the founders of Masque Milano, an earlier Italian niche house, and Brun took the role of artistic director rather than sole author of the scents [5]. The perfumes themselves were composed by a roster of outside perfumers, among them Violaine Collas, Michelle Moellhausen, Dominique Moellhausen, Julie Massé, Nathalie Feisthauer, Mathilde Bijaoui and Cécile Matton.
Ownership
The brand operates under Masque srl, a limited-liability company registered at Via Bobbio in Pioltello, in the Milan metropolitan area [4]. The same group is behind the older Masque Milano label, which Brun co-founded with Riccardo Tedeschi around 2010. No acquisition history is recorded for Milano Fragranze, and the brand has remained within the Masque organisation since its launch.
Philosophy and positioning
The collection is organised around a concept the company calls the "Spirit of the Place," or Genius Loci. Each fragrance is centred on one well-known or hidden location in Milan and, in the brand's framing, tells the stories of the people who have passed through it across generations. Milano Fragranze describes its purpose as communicating the "enchanted, awe-inspiring, and sometimes unknown places of the city of Milano" [5]. The house also invokes a Proustian idea — that a scent can unexpectedly bring a memory back to the surface — as the link between a place and the perfume named for it. The brand presents itself under the tagline "Niche Perfumes Inspired by the Essence of Milan."
Products
The range consists of eleven fragrances, each named for a Milanese subject and built as what the company calls an olfactory journey through the city. Naviglio is a fresh, aquatic composition inspired by the canals of the Navigli district; Galleria is a dry woody scent referencing the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II; and La Prima is an amber floral tied to the opening night of the opera season at La Scala. Others draw on more everyday or seasonal subjects: Panettone is a gourmand reading of Milan's traditional holiday cake, while Neon Lights is a fruity-floral perfume that the brand connects to the city's 1980s and 1990s nightlife. The remaining editions — Piazza Affari, Basilica, Diurno, Brera, Derby and Cortile — extend the same place-by-place approach across districts, churches, public baths and racecourses.
The perfumes are sold in 100 ml bottles and distributed across several channels, including the brand's own site and third-party retailers. According to a Fragrantica brand listing, the collection holds eleven perfumes, with the earliest edition dated 2021 and the newest from 2025 [5].
Recognition
Coverage of the house has come chiefly from specialist fragrance press. Fragrantica marked the launch with a feature titled "Milano Fragranze – New Perfume Brand from the Founders of Masque Milano" [5], and later published a review article on the collection. That review described the fragrances as "elegant and distinguished without aiming at provocation for the sake of provocation, as some other niche brands do" [6].
Current status
Milano Fragranze is an active brand. Its collection of eleven fragrances remains in production and is retailed internationally, and the official site carries a 2026 copyright notice. Its founding date is recorded slightly differently across sources: launch coverage places the brand's creation in 2020 [5], while the Fragrantica fragrance database dates the earliest individual edition to 2021. Alessandro Brun, the brand's artistic director and a co-founder of the wider Masque Milano house, died in 2024 [7]; the brand has continued under the parent company Masque srl.
