Overview
N1 is a German health brand owned by pharmedix GmbH, a Hamburg company founded in 2012 by Christian Strauch [2]. It sells three kinds of product under one name: medical devices for everyday complaints such as nail fungus, warts and haemorrhoids; a skincare range for problem-prone skin; and food supplements. The company describes its skincare not as beauty cosmetics but as "medizinische Wirkkosmetik", roughly "medical active cosmetics".
The brand is active. Its press area lists 29 N1-branded products, and the most recent dated item there is a data analysis published on 28 September 2026 [4]. Alongside its products, N1 runs a consumer health information site with more than 240 guides to everyday ailments [1].
Origin & founders
N1 began inside pharmedix GmbH, which Christian Strauch set up in 2012 [2]. The company's website gives that date for pharmedix itself; it does not give a separate launch year for the N1 brand.
In his own account on the company's website, Strauch says he had been working with the pharmacy market, medicines and food supplements since 2006. He writes that he saw early on how one-sided modern diets create what he calls a biochemical imbalance in the body, which in his view can lower energy and concentration and lead to illness. The company presents its products as a response to that idea.
The founding story also explains the brand's broader pitch. According to the company, pharmacy shelves offer plenty of choice for almost any complaint, but the products are often expensive, not very effective, unpleasant to smell or taste, full of unnecessary additives or awkward to use. N1 was set up, the company says, to make products that avoid those problems while staying affordable.
The team behind the brand, as N1 describes it, mostly comes from a pharmacy background. It also includes people trained in food technology, biochemistry, nutrition advice, design and business administration.
Ownership
N1 is a brand of pharmedix GmbH, based at Hans-Henny-Jahnn-Weg in Hamburg [2]. A third-party product listing for N1's nail-fungus solution also names pharmedix as the manufacturer [7]. No acquisitions or changes of ownership are documented. The company's head of marketing and sales, Marco Fechner, is a pharmaceutical-technical assistant who, according to the press page, has more than 15 years of experience in consumer health and the online pharmacy market.
Philosophy & positioning
N1's mission statement is short: "Unsere Mission ist deine Gesundheit" ("Our mission is your health"). Its tagline, "N1 – weil Gesundheit Vertrauenssache ist", translates as "because health is a matter of trust".
The company sets out five promises to customers: the best raw materials, no additives, high quality, sustainability and environmental protection, and animal welfare. In practice, N1 says it uses only tested raw materials and branded ingredients, and leaves out anything that is not strictly necessary. As a result, the company states, almost all of its products are vegan and free from lactose, gluten and many other allergens [2]. The qualifier matters: the claim covers nearly all products, not every one.
On animal testing, the company states that all N1 products are developed without tests on animals. It names no certifying body, and no third-party certifications are documented. On the environment, N1 says it tries to develop and manufacture its products in a way that is as resource-efficient and environmentally friendly as possible, without giving concrete targets.
Positioning is firmly tied to the pharmacy. The brand's shop calls its goods "Produkte aus der Apotheke", products from the pharmacy, and the skincare line is marketed as "cosmetics in pharmacy quality". The company names four sales channels: local pharmacies, the online pharmacy Shop Apotheke, Amazon and its own web shop [4].
Products & innovation
The skincare line is aimed at specific skin conditions rather than general beauty. N1 says it develops products for sensitive skin and for skin prone to acne, psoriasis or rosacea, as well as for scars. The range includes an acne-care ointment for a more even, matte look; a scar gel that the company says reduces the visibility of scars [3]; a cream for visible redness and small surface veins; an intensive cream for psoriasis-prone skin; and a hand cream containing micro-silver. On its skincare overview page, the company says its formulas use carefully selected ingredients, including precious oils and patented ingredients.
The most prominent recent addition is the N1 My Coldplasma Home, a device for applying cold plasma to the skin at home. The brand's shop gives the device top billing as its newest skincare product, promising radiant skin [5]. To support it, the company publishes a page titled "Die Studien sprechen für sich" ("The studies speak for themselves"), which gathers more than 30 scientific publications on cold plasma and the skin, including clinical trials on mild to moderate acne and work on the skin barrier and tolerability. Those publications concern the technology in general; the page does not name a study of the N1 device itself [6].
The company's skincare overview also shows two products under the name Aroceo Lab, a de-ageing concentrate and a spray-on cream mist. The site does not say whether Aroceo Lab is part of N1 or a separate label.
Outside skincare, the medical-device line covers conditions such as nail fungus, warts and haemorrhoids, and the company states that it makes medical devices with scientifically proven effect. Independent review coverage is limited. The test-aggregator testberichte.de lists N1's nail-fungus solution with pharmedix as manufacturer, but it shows no editorial test results from publications such as ÖKO-TEST or Stiftung Warentest; the only rating on the page is an average of 3.9 out of 5 from ten customer reviews on the retailer Otto [7]. The supplement range, sold as "Vitamine & Co.", is presented by the company as using pharmacy-grade raw materials with carefully set doses and few additives.
Health information and press work
N1 also runs a content operation around its products. Its main website works as a health guide under the slogan "Gesundheit verstehen. Gut entscheiden." ("Understand health. Decide well."). According to the company, the guides cover colds and the immune system, skin care, fungal infections and warts, digestion, vitamins and sleep, and they are checked by pharmaceutical-technical assistants and backed by sources such as the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) and the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR) [1].
The press area adds a data angle. It offers a weekly "Grippe-Barometer" that tracks influenza using RKI data, and analyses of search trends. All of these analyses and graphics are released under a Creative Commons CC BY 4.0 licence, so media can reuse them with attribution.
Current status
N1 is an active brand. As of late September 2026, its press area listed 29 N1 products and a fresh analysis, "Erkältungssaison in Zahlen" ("Cold season in numbers"), dated 28 September 2026, which looks at Google searches for colds, norovirus, vitamin D, sleep and winter skincare from 2024 to 2026 [4]. The brand maintains accounts on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and Facebook, and its company websites carry a 2026 copyright notice.
