Nusuk

Nusuk is a Dubai-based perfume house specialising in modern Arabian fragrance. It was launched in 2018 by the Attarwala Group of Companies, the family business behind the sister brand Riiffs, and it sits within a portfolio of fragrance labels rather than operating as a standalone company [4]. The brand builds its compositions around traditional Gulf materials such as oud, amber, musk and rose, paired with brighter fruity and floral notes aimed at everyday wear.

The house remains active. Its catalogue had grown to roughly three dozen fragrances by the mid-2020s, with new releases continuing through 2025 [9].

Nusuk was created by four brothers — Rizwan, Furqan, Farhan and Salman Attarwala — who also founded Riiffs and run the wider Attarwala Group [4]. According to the company, the concept took shape during the brothers' travels, with scents encountered abroad reworked through an Arabian lens. The family's perfumery roots reach back much further: the group traces its lineage to 1925, when a great-grandfather arrived in Mumbai and began selling attars from a basket on the street [4].

The name itself carries deliberate weight. "Nusuk" comes from the Arabic root N-S-K, associated with worship, devotion and ritual, and in an older sense with pure gold and silver coins — a meaning the brand links to ideas of purity and refinement [13]. Several of the group's other labels follow the same pattern of Arabic and Islamic-resonant naming.

Nusuk is owned by the Attarwala Group of Companies, also trading as A.A. Attarwala & Co., headquartered in Mumbai with a Dubai base for its launched brands [4]. Listings of the group's portfolio name eight fragrance brands, including Riiffs, Nusuk, FARiiS, BN Parfums, Al Fakhr, JD Collection, Manasik and Maison De Milan [5]. Riiffs and Nusuk were introduced together from Dubai in 2018 and are the group's most internationally visible labels.

Nusuk does not appear to maintain a separate website. Instead it is presented through the Riiffs Perfumes e-commerce portal operated by the parent group, where it is listed as a distinct brand alongside Riiffs' own range.

The brand frames itself as a contemporary take on Gulf perfumery, joining traditional oud-and-amber heritage to modern fruity-floral-woody compositions. Retailer and brand copy describe it as "the jewel of Emirati perfumery" and present each scent as a narrative — in the words of one listing, "a story waiting to be told" [8]. The Attarwala Group positions the line around craftsmanship, cultural authenticity and long-lasting wear, with most fragrances built on a high concentration of fragrance oils.

Commercially, Nusuk occupies an accessible price point rather than a high-luxury one. Wholesale listings through the group's Indian distribution arm price standard bottles at ₹1,199 and a premium tier at ₹1,550 [6]. One French retailer places the young house alongside established Gulf names such as Ahmed Al Maghribi while noting it is "young compared to established houses" [7].

Nusuk's flagship is the Ana Al Awwal collection, the most frequently cited line across retailers and the brand's recognised signature [8]. Its first two editions, Ana Al Awwal Golden (a floral-fruity scent for women) and Ana Al Awwal Silver (a leather-and-patchouli composition for men), both launched in 2018 and anchor the range; later flankers include Blue and Black variants.

From 2020 the house leaned into traditional oud, releasing Oud Khas and Oud Hindi, the latter praised in fragrance-community reviews as one of the more striking Cambodi-style oud sprays at its price. Subsequent additions span the Ajwaa flanker collection, Faris Al Arab (2022) and a number of oud- and musk-led scents. From around 2025 the brand shifted toward sweeter, gourmand-leaning compositions with releases such as Raheeq, Falak, Ateeq and Sama, built on notes of honey, caramel and vanilla [9]. Most products are formulated as Eau de Parfum in 100 ml bottles and distributed for men, women and unisex wear.

Production sits within the parent group's facilities in the United Arab Emirates and India, the latter spanning sites in the Mumbai area, Vasai and Surat. In 2021 the group opened ACO Perfumes & Cosmetics near Surat, which it describes as Asia's largest perfume manufacturing facility, with more than 25 production lines [4]. Through the Attarwala Group's distribution network, the company reports a presence in over 105 countries as of 2024, and Nusuk is carried by international fragrance retailers across the UK, Europe, the Gulf and India.

Nusuk is an active brand. Fragrance databases record continued releases through 2025 and a catalogue of around 37 perfumes, and the label remains listed across major retailer and reference sites [9]. One point of record differs between sources: most accounts, led by the Gulf News profile of the parent group, give a 2018 founding, while the UK retailer Sobelia states the house was "founded in 2016" [8]. The 2018 date is treated here as the better-supported figure, corroborated by the earliest catalogued Nusuk edition appearing in 2018.
