Summary

Overview

Rezilin is a German hair-care brand built around a single product: a scalp and hair treatment based on basil extract, marketed for hair loss that is not caused by illness and for dry, brittle or thinning hair. The brand belongs to Evertz Pharma GmbH, a company based in Frankfurt am Main that also makes skin-care ointments, a hair tincture and a dietary supplement under other names [2].

Rezilin is sold mainly through pharmacies in Germany, where it has been available over the counter for many years, and through the brand's own online shop. The company traces the product to an unexpected observation made while it was working on an anti-ageing cream, and it remains active, with a live shop and regular articles on its website.

Origin & founders

According to Rezilin, the idea came about by chance. While developing an anti-ageing face cream, the company says it noticed an effect of basil that had nothing to do with wrinkles, and it then went on to develop a treatment for the hair on the scalp [1]. In a 2019 interview, the company gave more detail: a test group that had been trying a new basil-based face cream showed denser eyebrows and eyelashes after a short time [10]. The firm added that basil has long been known to contain high levels of essential oils and antioxidants.

The company has not published a launch date for Rezilin, and no founders of the brand itself are named. The earliest dated customer review shown on the brand's website is from June 2018. Evertz Pharma is led by the brothers Dominik and Tobias Evertz, with Dominik Evertz named as managing director in the company's legal notice.

History & milestones

Much of Rezilin's early public profile was built through blogs and video. The brand's website gathers around fifteen blogger and YouTube reviews from 2018 and 2019, several of which came out of a product-testing campaign rather than independent coverage.

In 2019 the dermatest Research Institute, a testing laboratory, carried out a clinical application study of the product under dermatological supervision, which the brand still cites on its homepage [1]. In October of the same year it ran a customer survey of 338 users. The company reports that 89.9 per cent of respondents said they were satisfied; this is a self-reported figure from the brand's own survey, not a clinical result.

In 2022 the parent company received a certification from TÜV Saarland, a German testing and certification organisation, based on a customer survey. Evertz Pharma says it scored "good" (1.6 on the German school-grade scale) for customer service and "very good" (1.3) for product quality.

By the mid-2020s the brand's website had grown beyond a shop into a source of hair-loss content. A blog called "Wissenswertes" ("Worth knowing"), written by an in-house editorial team, publishes articles on topics such as hair loss after pregnancy, the effect of hair dye, and common mistakes when using Rezilin.

Ownership

Rezilin is owned and made by Evertz Pharma GmbH. The company is registered with the district court of Frankfurt am Main under commercial register number HRB 109466 [11], and it describes itself as having its headquarters in the ONE Tower in Frankfurt. The brand's own pages are not fully consistent on the address: the legal notice gives the postal code 60327 [3], while the footers of several other pages on the same site give 60237 [6]. The city is the same in both cases.

Rezilin sits within a small portfolio. Its sister lines include Citurin, a hair tincture made with mandarin extract and sold for grey hair; Biovolen, a range of "Aktiv" ointments named after their main plant ingredient, among them moss, cress, jasmine, cactus, mustard and algae, each aimed at a specific skin concern; and Vitalrin, a dietary supplement. According to Evertz Pharma, all of these products are sold as certified pharmacy products.

Philosophy & positioning

Evertz Pharma's mission statement reads "Besser leben dank der Natur" ("Living better thanks to nature"). The company says it develops products from ingredients of natural origin, processed with biotechnological methods, and that it focuses on the causes of a problem rather than on treating its symptoms. Its parent website carries the slogan "Innovation ist unsere Leidenschaft" ("Innovation is our passion").

Rezilin's own tagline is "Haare – so jung, wie wir uns fühlen" ("Hair – as young as we feel"). The brand frames hair problems as something that tends to grow with age. On its website it lists possible causes such as hormonal changes during pregnancy or menopause, a lack of nutrients from a one-sided diet, medication such as blood-pressure drugs, and stress. The product is explicitly limited to hair loss that is not caused by disease.

The pharmacy channel is central to the positioning. The company argues that cosmetics sold in pharmacies are subject to careful ingredient checks and dermatological testing, and that pharmacy staff can offer advice to people with sensitive skin or skin problems.

Products & innovation

The brand's only product is the Rezilin Basilikum-Extrakt Haarkur, a 100 ml treatment that, according to the company, lasts about two months at the recommended dose. Its key ingredient is listed as Ocimum Basilicum Hairy Root Culture Extract, a basil extract. The formula adds nourishing oils, which the brand describes as being of organic quality, along with aloe vera extract, vitamins and caffeine.

To turn basil into a usable active ingredient, Rezilin says it developed a protected process called Phyto-Lyse®, which breaks down the plant substances to make them available [1]. The company describes the resulting biotechnological ingredient as having antioxidant properties and says it can help prevent the hair roots from wasting away. In Rezilin's account, the oils keep the scalp and hair from drying out and restore shine to dull hair, while the vitamins, caffeine and basil extract are meant to counter hair loss and support growth.

Use is simple. The company recommends massaging the treatment into the scalp three times a week and leaving it on for at least 30 minutes, ideally overnight. In its 2019 interview it suggested three to four applications a week at the start, with the frequency reduced after a few months, and stressed that regular use matters more than frequent use.

The brand lists the formula as free from alcohol, silicones, parabens, sulfates, preservatives and mineral oils. It describes the product as dermatologically tested and says no side effects are known; skin tolerance was assessed by the DermaTest institute, which the brand says gave a "very good" result. The website itself notes that Stiftung Warentest, the German consumer-testing foundation, has not published an official verdict on Rezilin.

### Sustainability and manufacturing

Evertz Pharma states that all of its products are made in Germany and that its production is certified to ISO 13485, a quality-management standard for medical devices [2]. This is a manufacturing standard, not an ethical or cosmetics certification.

The company describes its products as vegan and free from animal testing; on the parent company's own website, the one exception named is its honey ointment. No third-party cruelty-free certification is documented. Evertz Pharma also says it mainly uses raw materials from controlled organic farming and makes regular donations to the Naturschutzbund, a German nature-conservation association, for projects that protect endangered species [9].

Recognition

Rezilin's recognition is largely self-reported. Alongside the 2022 TÜV Saarland certification of its parent company, the brand displays an average customer rating of 4.4 out of 5 stars on its website, drawn from its own review system. Coverage has come mostly from bloggers and YouTubers, part of it linked to a testing campaign, rather than from mainstream editorial outlets.

08 /

Current status

Rezilin is active. The online shop is live, and the brand's blog published new articles in March, April and June 2026, the most recent on 25 June 2026 [7].

The brand's reach is narrow and German-speaking. It is sold nationwide in German pharmacies, both in stores and online, and in some pharmacies in Austria; it is not sold in Switzerland [6]. Pharmacy and direct sales differ on one point. The brand says its money-back guarantee applies only to orders from its own online shop, not to pharmacy purchases. Product pages give the guarantee period as 60 days [1], while a general text on the brand's "About us" page offers 30 days on all products [2]. The brand also maintains accounts on Instagram, YouTube, Facebook and Pinterest.
