Overview
Semilac is a Polish nail-cosmetics brand specialising in UV gel ("hybrid") nail polish, base and top coats, lamps and related manicure supplies. It is the largest brand of Nesperta sp. z o.o., a cosmetics company based in Suchy Las near Poznań, and is described by an industry ranking as the leading gel-polish brand in Poland, ahead of NeoNail, Indigo Nails, Victoria Vynn and Mylaq [9]. The brand is active, with e-commerce operations across several markets and, according to its parent, distribution reaching roughly 30 to 35 countries [7][2].
The company positions Semilac as a professional-grade system that also suits at-home use, built around a broad colour range and long wear. Semilac's parent frames it as the brand that started what it calls the "UV gel revolution" on the nails of many Polish women, and the private-equity firm that acquired a majority of Nesperta in 2021 described the business as a pioneer and market leader in UV hybrid nail polish in Poland [10].

Ownership
Semilac is owned by Nesperta sp. z o.o., whose portfolio also includes the nail brand hi hybrid, aimed at younger, at-home users. In early 2021 the Polish private-equity firm Resource Partners agreed to acquire a majority stake in Nesperta from the company's founders; the Polish competition authority (UOKiK) approved the transaction in March 2021 [10]. Founder Tomasz Gołębiewski continued as chief executive after the deal, with Przemysław Pokorski serving as vice-president and managing director [10]. At the time of the acquisition, Resource Partners said it intended to support the international expansion of the group's brands.
Products & positioning
Semilac's range centres on UV gel nail polish, with base and top coats, builder and acrylic gels, curing lamps, classic nail lacquers, hand-care items and accessories. The brand's regional sites describe a colour library of close to 300 shades and a wear claim of up to 21 days [2]. Named products include the Extend Base, the Cat Eye 3D UV gel polishes, the Top Mat Total No Wipe top coat, Semiflash nail powders and a One Step UV Gel. The company groups several of these under what it calls its most innovative solutions, including an "Extend 5-in-1" line.
The brand is positioned in the mid-to-premium tier for professional-grade products [9], and its messaging addresses both salon technicians and home users seeking long-lasting manicures with a wide choice of colour. Distribution is multi-channel: Nesperta sells through its own e-commerce platform as well as professional salons, drugstore chains and shopping-mall locations in Poland [10]. Outside Poland the brand runs country-specific stores, including sites for the United Kingdom, Ireland and the United States, the last positioned toward professional nail technicians.
Sustainability
Nesperta states that the electricity used to manufacture its UV gel nail polishes comes entirely from renewable sources — a wind farm in Postolin, in Poland's Pomorskie region — purchased through a power purchase agreement on the Polish Power Exchange. Production takes place at the company's "Colour Factory" in Komorniki, near Poznań. The company also cites dermatological testing and safety certification for its formulas, and lists standards including ISO 22716 (cosmetics good manufacturing practice) and ISO 14001 (environmental management).
Recognition
Semilac has received a series of Polish and international marketing and consumer awards. Its parent lists a Quality Leader recognition in 2017; Best Beauty Buys, the Cosmopolitan Prix de Beauté and E-Commerce Polska honours in 2018; a Customer Golden Laurel in 2019; an Effie Award in Poland in 2020; and a "Best Product 2021" award for its One Step UV Gel. In competitive coverage of the Polish market, the brand has been ranked first among domestic gel-polish makers [9].
Current status
The brand is active. It operates e-commerce stores in Poland and several export markets, maintains social-media accounts under the handle @semilacshop, and continues to release new products. Its parent and third-party sources describe Semilac as the market leader for UV hybrid nail polish in Poland and report distribution across roughly 30 to 35 countries — Semilac's own regional site cites 30, while Nesperta's corporate materials cite about 35 [2][7].
