Summary

Overview

Sister's Aroma is a Ukrainian niche perfumery and body-care brand founded in 2018 by sisters Yulia and Daria Burkovska in Kyiv [7]. The company built its range around fragrance, body care and scented home products, and describes its approach as "S-beauty" — an affordable, everyday take on scent and skincare. It remains active, selling directly through its own regional websites and through wholesale partners across Ukraine, Poland and the wider European market.

The brand's founders previously worked as sales representatives in cosmetics and perfumery before starting the company. Sister's Aroma is closely tied to its Ukrainian identity: after Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022 it halted shipments to Russia, redirected support to the Ukrainian army, and later released a charity perfume in partnership with a state defence enterprise.

Origin & founders

Sister's Aroma was established in August 2018 by two sisters in Kyiv. On its own site the company presents itself as "a Ukrainian brand of niche perfumery, which was created by sisters Dasha and Yuliia". The founders' surname appears in several Latin spellings across sources — the brand site renders it "Burkovskie", the Ukrainian Wikipedia entry "Burkovskyi", and Ukrainian news outlet 24tv "Burkovsky" — all transliterations of the same Ukrainian name [2][7]. Their first names likewise vary between sources (Daria/Dasha/Darina and Yulia/Yuliia).

History & milestones

After launching in 2018, the company began expanding into international markets the following year. During the 2020 pandemic it introduced perfumed hand sanitizers, and in 2021 it added a liquid soap line. In 2022 it released a limited-edition hand cream collection created with Ukrainian designer Masha Reva.

The 2022 invasion reshaped the business. According to the Ukrainian Wikipedia entry, Sister's Aroma halted shipments to Russia and began financially supporting the Ukrainian army; the founders stated that goods worth more than 500,000 dollars remained stranded at a warehouse in Russia, and that revenue fell roughly thirtyfold as a result of the war [7]. The company also began donating to Ukrainian charitable funds, including "Come Back Alive" [9].

In April 2023 the brand released Neptun, a limited-edition perfume made with the UkrOboronProm defence enterprise KB "Luch" [10]. The scent marked the sinking of the Russian cruiser Moskva, and the company said all profits would go to the state fundraising platform UNITED24 [10].

Ownership

Sister's Aroma operates a Ukrainian brand alongside a separate European legal entity. Ukrainian Wikipedia lists the company's headquarters as Kyiv, its country of origin and main market [7]. Its European operation is registered in Poland as a Warsaw-based entity at 44 Tvarda Street (KRS 0000990359), which handles distribution for the EU market [3]. No parent company is documented in the available sources.

Philosophy & positioning

The company frames its identity around what it calls "S-beauty", described on its site as "beauty affordable for every girl" and a "smart" approach to everyday care. It organises this idea around six values beginning with the letter S — Sister's, Smart, Science, Safety, Skin and Soft — covering sisterhood, multi-purpose products, studied ingredients, safety for skin and environment, skin results and tactile pleasure. In its own words the range centres on "everyday rituals of high-quality body care" combining self-love with care for the environment.

Products & innovation

Sister's Aroma sells eau de parfum, perfume oils, home fragrances and scented candles alongside body care such as hand creams, shower gels, lotions and deodorants, plus accessories including metal hair clips. Its perfumes include Once, Peonyholic (2024), Pur Pur (2018) and the widely restocked Sugar Porn. According to the company, formulas draw on ingredients such as probiotics, ceramides, and shea, avocado, jojoba and macadamia oils. The brand also states that its product formulations have obtained European ECOCERT/Cosmos certification for their ingredients [2], and it cites cruelty-free practice and recyclable packaging among its commitments.

Distribution runs through the brand's own regional stores and through wholesale partners. Sister's Aroma lists retail representation via Makeup, Douglas, Notino and Super Pharm, and reports a partner network of 275 partners across 517 retail points within Ukraine [5].

Recognition & press

Sister's Aroma has been the subject of Ukrainian-language coverage rather than international editorial. In June 2024 Forbes Ukraine ran a business profile of the company, reporting that the sisters had built the brand over roughly six years and that its products were sold in more than 450 retail outlets worldwide [15]. The Ukrainian Wikipedia article notes earlier mentions in outlets including Elle and Marie Claire. No industry awards are documented in the available sources.

Controversies

The brand has faced scrutiny over its historical presence in the Russian market. Ukrainian outlet 24tv reported that Sister's Aroma products continued to appear in Russian stores, including in Krasnodar and Yekaterinburg, after the February 2022 invasion; the company responded that it had conducted no financial operations on Russian territory after 24 February 2022 and that it "cannot control speculative sales" [9]. In June 2025, according to the same outlet, co-founder Yulia Burkovska drew public criticism for liking a social-media post by a pro-Putin commentator [9].

Current status

Sister's Aroma is active. Its European site was running a seasonal sale and listing restocked products at the time the sources were gathered, and its catalogue includes 2024 fragrance launches [1]. The company operates direct-to-consumer sites for several regions together with worldwide shipping, though its blog cadence appeared to slow after mid-2024.
