Summary

Overview

Theramid is a Spanish skincare brand developed by the Barcelona-based laboratory Niche Beauty Lab. It launched in May 2022 as a science-first line built around a small range of high-dose, clinically tested actives, led by a ceramide barrier treatment [3]. The brand is sold through its parent company's storefront and across more than 30 countries, including Nordic retailers.

In early 2026, Niche Beauty Lab was acquired by the German group Cosnova, maker of the essence and Catrice cosmetics brands, which made Theramid part of the Cosnova group [5]. The brand itself remains commercially active.

Origin and founders

Theramid was created by Niche Beauty Lab, a laboratory founded in August 2018 and based in Canet de Mar, a town near Barcelona [4]. The parent company was started by Richard Chorrero, Alfonso López and Sergio Chorrero, the last of whom serves as chief executive [4]. Niche Beauty Lab develops and manufactures its products in its own facilities, and Theramid sits in its portfolio alongside two sister brands, Acnemy and Transparent Lab.

The brand launched on 20 May 2022 with six formulas. Max Oberloher, then chief operating officer of Niche Beauty Lab, described the launch as "a challenge we set ourselves," adding that the team aimed "to take innovation and cosmetics to new limits" [3].

Most independent trade sources place Niche Beauty Lab's headquarters in Canet de Mar, near Barcelona in Catalonia [4]. An internal scan note had recorded the location as Madrid, but that value is not supported by any of the harvested sources and appears to be an error.

Products and positioning

Theramid is a skincare-only line of treatments and serums. Its stated approach is to combine high concentrations of clinically tested active ingredients in each formula. The company's positioning has been summarised as "luxury-level science, democratized," and its parent operates under the tagline "From Our Lab to You," which Niche Beauty Lab links to a commitment to accessible, effective and transparent skincare [4].

The flagship product is a high-dose Ceramide Treatment. According to launch coverage, it carries "the highest concentration of Ceramides on the market (3%)," intended to reinforce the skin's protective barrier and reduce the skin's moisture loss [3]. Other treatments in the range use actives such as azelaic acid, vitamin C, retinyl retinoate, copper peptides, multi-peptides and hyaluronic acid. Named products include AZID, a 15% azelaic acid treatment; Tetramid C.E.F, a vitamin C treatment; Derma-Peptides, a 35% multi-peptide treatment; and HAPCA Filler, an anti-wrinkle hydrating treatment.

Niche Beauty Lab attributes its pricing to direct manufacturing control and in-house research, framing the result as "quality at a real price." The parent describes its model as science-first with vertical integration, citing an in-house R&D lab and encapsulation technology with end-to-end control of the supply chain [4]. Distribution is primarily direct-to-consumer, supplemented by mass, department store and professional channels.

Ownership

Theramid is owned by Niche Beauty Lab, which also markets the Acnemy and Transparent Lab brands. In early 2026, Cosnova — a German company founded in 2001 and based in Sulzbach, known for its essence and Catrice makeup brands — acquired Niche Beauty Lab, marking Cosnova's entry into skincare [5]. Sources give slightly different dates for the deal: BeautyMatter reported 29 January 2026 [5], while a cosmetic-business.com summary cited 11 February 2026 [6]. Both place the acquisition in early 2026, and deal terms were not disclosed.

Recognition

In 2025, Niche Beauty Lab was profiled in BeautyMatter's Future50 list, which described the parent company as "A Global Innovation Hub" [4]. Theramid was covered as one of its three brands.

Current status

Theramid is an active, growing brand. Following the January 2026 acquisition, its parent Niche Beauty Lab reported plans for continued expansion, with projected full-year 2026 revenue of $50 million to $75 million across the group's brands [4]. The "acquired" status reflects the recent change in ownership rather than any pause in the brand's operations; Theramid continues to be sold and remains available through Nordic retailers.
