OCEANIC S.A.
5 brands · founded 1982 · PolandOCEANIC S.A. is a Polish family-owned cosmetics manufacturer based in Sopot, on the country's Baltic coast. It was founded in 1982 as a pharmaceutical-cosmetic laboratory and remains owned by its founders, Dorota and Wojciech Soszyński [3]. The company develops and produces a range of mass-market, dermocosmetic, makeup and haircare brands, and is best known in Poland for its AA line of anti-allergenic products aimed at sensitive skin.
The group positions itself around skin tolerance and dermatological testing, describing its work as bringing together brands that care for "all skin types, even the most sensitive" [2]. Manufacturing is concentrated at a pharmaceutical-standard plant in Trąbki Małe, near Gdańsk, which OCEANIC built in 2004.
History & milestones
The business began in 1982 in Sopot, where the Soszyński family established a small pharmaceutical-cosmetic laboratory under the OCEANIC name [1]. Its early identity was built on the AA brand, a hypoallergenic skincare line developed for reactive and sensitive skin, which grew into the company's flagship.
Over the following decades OCEANIC expanded from a single laboratory into a multi-brand manufacturer. In 2004 it opened a larger production facility in Trąbki Małe outside Gdańsk, operated to pharmaceutical good-manufacturing-practice standards. The company later widened its portfolio beyond skincare into colour cosmetics, eyelash care and haircare, adding the Long4Lashes lash brand in 2013.
Portfolio & brands
OCEANIC owns and manufactures a portfolio of Polish beauty brands spanning several categories. Its core skincare line is AA Cosmetics, the anti-allergenic range for sensitive skin on which the company was built. Sister brand AA Wings of Color extends the AA name into colour cosmetics and makeup.
Alongside these, the group produces Oillan, a dermocosmetic skincare line, and Long4Lashes, a brand focused on eyelash and eyebrow care. Through its 2019 acquisition it also owns the dermocosmetic brand L'biotica and the haircare brand BIOVAX [6][7]. The company markets these as its own brands rather than licensed labels.
Acquisitions & strategy
OCEANIC's most significant reported transaction came in 2019, when it acquired L'biotica sp. z o.o. — together with its BIOVAX haircare brand — from the investor Waterland Private Equity [5]. The deal moved the company further into dermocosmetics and haircare, broadening a portfolio that had previously centred on the AA skincare and makeup lines.
The acquisition reflects a strategy of growing through owned brands across adjacent beauty categories — sensitive-skin skincare, colour cosmetics, lash care, dermocosmetics and haircare — while keeping production in-house at its Trąbki Małe plant.
Ownership
OCEANIC is a privately held, family-owned business. It is registered in Poland as a joint-stock company (Spółka Akcyjna) in the National Court Register under KRS number 0000317546 [4]. The company states that its owners are Dorota and Wojciech Soszyński, and it presents itself as a family enterprise, describing its story as "a family legacy of beauty" [1][3]. No public stock listing is recorded.
