Overview
L'Biotica is a Polish dermo-cosmetics brand founded in 2005 in Gdańsk [3]. It began as an independent company specialising in haircare, where its BIOVAX line became the signature range, and later expanded into facial and body skincare. Since 2019 the brand has been owned by Oceanic S.A., a Sopot-based pharmaceutical-cosmetic group, after an earlier period under private-equity ownership [2][5].
The brand is positioned in the dermo-cosmetics segment — skincare developed with input from dermatologists and sold largely through pharmacies and drugstore chains rather than as premium retail. It remains active under Oceanic, most recently extending its range into professional facial care in 2023.

Origins
L'Biotica was established in 2005 as a niche dermo-cosmetics company based in Gdańsk, Poland [3]. The available sources do not identify its original founders; only its later ownership is documented. In its early years the company focused on haircare, building the BIOVAX sub-line of products described as having "medically inspired properties designed for hair nourishment and hair loss prevention," alongside footcare and facial products.
Ownership
The brand's ownership has changed twice. In 2016 it was acquired by Waterland Private Equity Investments, which described L'Biotica as the platform for a "buy-and-build" strategy intended to consolidate Poland's fragmented cosmetics market of more than 400 companies into "a leading Polish cosmetics group" [3].
In 2019 Waterland exited and sold the brand to Oceanic S.A. According to a legal record of the transaction, the share acquisition closed on 26 August 2019 [5]. Oceanic, founded in 1982 in Sopot and led by owner Dorota Soszyńska, folded L'Biotica into a portfolio that also includes AA Cosmetics, AA Wings of Color, BIOVAX, Oillan and Aquaseline. Oceanic says it acquired the brand to add "products inspired by the latest dermatology and cosmetology innovations" [2].
Because the sources span this transition, they describe the brand differently depending on date: the Waterland portfolio profile records it as an independent private-equity holding [3], while the brand's current owner presents it as part of Oceanic since 2019 [2]. The latter reflects the present arrangement; the Waterland period belongs to the brand's history.
Philosophy and positioning
L'Biotica describes itself as "a line of professional dermocosmetics for face and body care, drawing inspiration from aesthetic medicine, pharmacology, cosmetology and the wellness industry," summed up by the tagline "because results matter" [1]. The company says its products are created in collaboration with dermatologists, pharmacists and cosmetologists, and that they are backed by clinical and instrumental studies and tested under dermatological control. It frames daily skincare as a moment of relaxation rather than only a functional routine.
Commercially, the brand sits in the drugstore tier. Its products have been distributed through pharmacies — by one account around 5,000 of them — together with drugstore chains such as Rossmann, Hebe and Natura, and modern-trade channels [3].
Products
BIOVAX, the haircare range, is the brand's flagship sub-line. It spans treatment masks and serums including the Keratin + Silk Intensive Repair Hair Mask, the Glamour Volumetric Treatment, a Perfect Curls Therapy for curly and wavy hair, and a Biovax Men line built around a two-in-one anti-hair-loss shampoo. Manufacturing takes place in laboratories and production plants in Poland.
In May 2023 the brand introduced L'Biotica Estetic Clinic, a dermatological facial-care line developed under the guidance of Dr. Ewa Chlebus, a Polish dermatology and aesthetic-medicine specialist [4]. The range targets concerns such as wrinkles, acne in mature skin, dryness and discoloration, and is positioned around the "smart aging" trend. According to the company, it draws on aesthetic-medicine procedures including microneedling mesotherapy, oxygenation and chemical exfoliation, and incorporates a patented technology the brand calls "Cell-Tech Reno-Protector" [4].
Current status
L'Biotica is an active brand operating under Oceanic S.A. ownership [2]. Its most recent major launch was the Estetic Clinic line in 2023, and it maintains a public presence on social media under the BIOVAX-led "L'biotica BIOVAX" identity. Its former standalone domain redirects to Oceanic's own site, which now fronts the brand's distribution. Its reach is primarily the Polish market, with availability through international retailers in several other countries.
