Overview
Dermature (styled "dermature®" by the company) is a German skincare brand built around a small "Milch-Serie", or milk series, of moisturising creams for sensitive skin. It belongs to Ferdinand Eimermacher GmbH & Co. KG, a family-run manufacturer based in Nordwalde in the Münsterland region of north-western Germany [2]. The range consists of a face cream and a hand cream, both made with hydrolysed milk protein and, according to the company, produced exclusively in Germany [1].
The brand has no public founding story of its own, and neither its launch date nor the people who created it are publicly known. The company behind it is far better known: a maker of oils, ointments and, later, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics whose history goes back to 1910 [4]. Dermature is active, selling through its own online shop and through online pharmacies.
Ownership
Dermature is a brand of Ferdinand Eimermacher GmbH & Co. KG, which is named as the operator in the brand's legal notice. The company is registered at the district court of Steinfurt and is run by managing directors Guido Venschott and Philipp Hasebrock. Its sister brands include Ensbona and Enzborn.
Ferdinand Eimermacher GmbH & Co. KG is in turn the core of the Eimermacher Group, which also includes Schweizer-Effax, SportoMed, Holmenkol, Pharmaka, E Analytics, Schweizer-Nova and the Austrian trading company Eimermacher Handels GmbH & Co KG. The group says it employs more than 200 people and sells over 2,500 products under 17 brands [3]. It describes itself as a fourth-generation family business and states that all of its development and production takes place at its site in Nordwalde [4].
The parent's history explains the setting in which Dermature was made. In 1910 Ferdinand Eimermacher set up a small business in the Münsterland supplying oils and fats for uses that ranged from animal care to cars. The company also remembers him as an early balloonist who, in 1913, flew from Münster to Königsberg in six hours. Its commercial breakthrough came in 1930, when natural balsams brought back from Peru by a doctor of tropical medicine were used in a milking ointment that, by the company's account, set a new standard in milking hygiene [4]. Udder-care products and liquid teat disinfectants for dairy farming followed in the 1960s.
The move towards products for people came later. In 1983 the company obtained a manufacturing licence under Germany's Medicines Act and expanded into the production of pharmaceuticals and cosmetics [4]. It adopted good manufacturing practice (GMP) standards in 1994, and in 2018 it was first certified to ISO 9001, to the IFS HPC standard for household and personal-care products and to ISO 13485, the standard for medical devices. Over the same decades it grew by buying other companies, taking over Schweizer-Effax in 1997, SportoMed in 2004, Holmenkol in 2012 and Pharmaka in 2019.
Philosophy & positioning
Dermature presents itself around two guiding ideas: "love of skin health" and what it calls a maximum standard of quality. The company describes the brand as a natural helper for the skin's cell structure and says its care concepts are developed specifically for healthy, well-kept skin and are proven to work.
Ingredient selection is, in Dermature's words, its top priority, with the stated aim that a product should be as gentle on the skin as it is effective. On that basis the company describes the whole range as pH-neutral to the skin and free from parabens, silicones, mineral oils and microplastics [1]. Pharmacy listings phrase the same promise slightly differently, naming paraffins rather than mineral oils [6].
Sensitive and stressed skin is the common thread. Both creams are aimed at sensitive skin, and the brand frames dryness, a feeling of tightness and irritation as the problems it sets out to address. The "Made in Germany" message is shared with the parent group, which presents domestic production as a promise of quality.
Products & innovation
The milk series centres on milk protein. Dermature says its "Hydrokomplex" formula tackles many skin problems where they begin, at the skin cell itself, using milk proteins to supply the skin's cell structure with moisture; the amino acids those proteins contain are said to calm sensitive skin [1].
The range has two products. The Milch Gesichtscreme, a 50 ml face cream, is presented as a rich moisturiser for sensitive facial skin. According to the company, it soothes the skin, reduces the feeling of tightness, improves skin quality over time and supports the natural renewal of facial skin at any age. The Milch Handcreme, sold in a 75 ml size, is described as giving sensitive, stressed hands rich moisture, with a noticeable immediate effect that leaves them soft and supple. Pharmacies have also carried the hand cream as a twin pack of two 75 ml units and as a 250 ml dispenser.
The published ingredient list for the hand cream shows a base of water and glycerin with plant-derived oils and fatty alcohols, including jojoba seed oil, alongside panthenol and hydrolysed milk protein. The list also includes perfume, so the hand cream is not fragrance-free [5].
No certifications specific to Dermature are documented. The GMP and ISO certifications held by its parent relate to the manufacturing operation in Nordwalde rather than to the brand itself.
Current status
Dermature is active. Its German-language online shop, operated by Ferdinand Eimermacher together with Arendicom GmbH of Tutzing, lists both creams with an option to subscribe, and its footer carries copyright dates running from 2023 to 2026 [1]. In February 2024 the Eimermacher Group announced that it was gradually moving all of its webshops to a new system built on the Shopware platform.
Outside its own shop, the brand is sold through online pharmacies in Germany and Austria. As of 2026 some pack sizes, including the 250 ml hand-cream dispenser, were listed as unavailable at online pharmacies [6].
