Overview
Jusbox Perfumes is an Italian niche fragrance house founded in 2016 by the Milanese siblings Andrea and Chiara Valdo. The brand was created as a project within their family company, Beauty San S.p.A., and builds every fragrance around a single idea: that perfume is the olfactory counterpart of music. Each scent is conceived as an "olfactive melody" paying homage to a music icon or genre, and the house markets its perfumes as universal pieces meant to be worn without regard to age, gender or culture.
The company positions itself at the meeting point of artistic perfumery and the Italian made-in-Italy tradition, working with established master perfumers and selling through luxury department stores and fragrance boutiques internationally. It remains active, with new launches continuing into the mid-2020s.
Origin & founders
Jusbox was founded by Andrea and Chiara Valdo, a brother-and-sister pair the brand describes as "Milanese by origin, Venetian and Tuscan by adoption" [3]. Their background is rooted in the industry: their father worked as a sales manager for a cosmetics company and their mother was a perfumery buyer in Milan. Before launching Jusbox, the siblings had worked since 2007 with the designer Ennio Capasa on the fragrances of CoSTUME NATIONAL [3], experience that fed directly into their own house.
The brand was set up as an entrepreneurial venture within Beauty San S.p.A., the family firm, which an editorial profile describes as having been active in perfume and beauty for more than three decades. Both founders serve as chief executives of Beauty San, with Andrea identified as CEO of Jusbox and head of its creative and development work.
The brand's own pages date the founding to 2016 [3], while the editorial profile by Cosmetiqua specifies May 2016 [7]; the two are consistent, the latter simply adding the month.
Ownership
Jusbox Perfumes is owned by Beauty San S.p.A. [7], the Valdo family company that also functions as the brand's legal entity. Within the same group, Jusbox sits alongside the sister brands CoSTUME NATIONAL and Tuttotondo.
The location of the company is recorded differently across sources. The brand site lists its registered headquarters at Viale Giovanni Milton in Florence [1], whereas Cosmetiqua places the parent company Beauty San in Prato and identifies the flagship store as being in Milan, on Via della Spiga [7]. The discrepancy reflects different addresses for different entities and sites rather than a contradiction about a single location.
Philosophy & positioning
The central concept, in the brand's words, is "the encounter between Music and Perfume merging into one sound that evokes pure emotion." Jusbox frames the two art forms as sharing a power to summon hidden memories and emotions, and treats the perfumer's work as analogous to musical composition. Individual fragrances are tied to specific genres and eras — among them rock, jazz, disco, grunge and bossa nova — each meant to evoke the atmosphere of the music and the places where it was played.
This pairing extends to the packaging. According to the company, every bottle holds 78 millilitres as a tribute to the first phonographic disc, which played at 78 revolutions per minute, while the cap is shaped in homage to the vinyl record [2]. The house presents its perfumes as artistic works addressed to everyone "without labels of age, gender or culture."
Products & innovation
Jusbox produces niche and artistic eau de parfum, alongside discovery kits and fragrance-layering products. The collection is built largely with external master perfumers, including Dominique Ropion, Julien Rasquinet, Antoine Lie, Dominique Moellhausen and Nelly Hachem-Ruiz, several of them associated with the fragrance house IFF. The company says its raw materials come mostly from the LMR laboratory in Grasse [2], a long-established centre of French perfumery.
Among the house's better-known fragrances are Cheeky Smile (2018) and Black Powder (2017), cited as bestsellers, with the more recent Carioca Heart (2023) reported to be approaching the same status [7]. Other named creations include Fifty Four, inspired by the New York nightclub Studio 54, and London Hall, a woody-leather scent sold as an exclusive. The editorial site ScentXplore notes that Jusbox created what it calls "the first fluorescent bottle of the perfume world" [8].
Sustainability
Jusbox states that environmentally sustainable development and corporate social responsibility are "the cornerstones" of its production philosophy. The company says it works exclusively with Italian suppliers to shorten its supply chain and reduce logistics, and describes its packaging as "designed for a second life." In 2024 the brand joined the "UNIS Vers le Beau Responsable" programme, which it says requires meeting more than twenty sustainability criteria covering areas such as craftsmanship and support for local communities [2].
Recognition
Coverage of Jusbox has appeared in specialist fragrance media. Cosmetiqua published a dedicated brand profile in 2024, and Fragrantica maintains a designer page documenting the house's launches. The editorial feature by ScentXplore characterises Jusbox as "one of the few artistic brands still authentic in the market," praising its investment in raw-material quality [8].
Distribution
Jusbox sells through luxury department stores and fragrance boutiques internationally, in addition to its flagship boutique in Milan. Accounts of its early retail presence differ: Cosmetiqua records an initial exclusivity with Selfridges in London [7], while the brand's own pages present its scent London Hall as a current exclusive for Harrods [6]. Both appear to describe genuine but separate arrangements at different times.
Current status
The brand is active. It has continued to release fragrances into the mid-2020s, with newer launches such as Wave of Freedom, a tribute to The Beach Boys, and its copyright notice listing 2026. Together with its 2024 sustainability-programme membership, its Milan boutique and its international department-store distribution, this points to an operating, multi-region niche house.
