Overview
Remescar is a Belgian skincare brand based in Sint-Martens-Latem, developed and manufactured by the consumer-health company Sylphar. It is best known for topical products that promise a visible cosmetic effect within minutes of application, a positioning the company calls "Instant Corrective Skincare" for mature skin. Most independent records date the brand to 2008 [7], though Remescar's own about page describes it as founded "nearly 25 years ago" — a vaguer figure discussed below.
Remescar is not an independent company but a product line within a larger portfolio. Its parent, Sylphar, was acquired by the Swedish group Karo Pharma — an EQT portfolio company — for EUR 290 million in a deal agreed in November 2021 and completed in early 2022 [6]. The brand remains commercially active across Europe and the Nordics under that ownership.

Origin
Remescar grew out of a pharmaceutical background rather than a beauty startup. Its products are developed and manufactured by Sylphar, an over-the-counter consumer-health firm founded in 2008 by Robin List as a spin-off from a publicly listed dental company, with a registered base in the Sint-Martens-Latem area of Belgium [7]. Business databases and the company's own materials place the Remescar brand's origin in the same year, 2008 [7]. Product research and development is run from a division in Belgium led by a pharmacist, and the brand says it began with a single product before expanding to more than 30 items.
The founding date is the one point where sources diverge. Remescar's German-language about page states the brand was "founded nearly 25 years ago," which would imply an origin around 2001 [1]. Independent sources — including the business database Tracxn, private-equity firm Vendis Capital, and the acquisition announcement from Karo — consistently point to 2008 [7][6]. The earlier figure appears to be loose marketing copy that folds in Sylphar's broader pharmaceutical heritage, so the corroborated 2008 date is the more reliable one.
Ownership
Remescar is one of several brands held by Sylphar, alongside names such as iWhite, Nutravita and Alpha Foods [6]. In 2017, Sylphar founder Robin List partnered with Vendis Capital to scale the company's over-the-counter portfolio [9]. Vendis later sold the business: in November 2021, Karo Pharma agreed to acquire Sylphar International NV — Remescar included — for EUR 290 million, with the deal expected to close in January 2022 [6]. Karo, since rebranded as Karo Healthcare, is owned by the investment firm EQT. In the acquisition announcement, Remescar was described as "a skincare brand that offers corrective and instant visible skincare solutions" [6].
Philosophy and positioning
Remescar frames itself as a provider of fast-acting, non-invasive cosmetic products for mature skin. The company describes the range as delivering "targeted anti-aging results with products that provide visible effects within minutes rather than weeks." That emphasis on immediacy runs through its marketing: its stated tagline invites customers to "boost your confidence" with "an instantly visible result." According to the brand, some products show visible results within three minutes of the first application, lasting up to eight hours, while its Instant Facelift Cream is said to create a lifted, firmer look in five minutes.
The products sit in a drugstore price tier and reach customers mainly through digital channels. Karo's description of Sylphar characterises the parent as a "digital-first platform" earning revenue chiefly through online marketplaces, web shops and e-pharmacies, with products distributed across more than 50 countries [6]. Remescar operates regional sites for markets including Denmark and Finland.
Products and innovation
The range spans three areas: eye care (under-eye bags, dark circles and drooping eyelids), face care (wrinkles, fine lines, loss of firmness and dark spots) and body care (neck, décolletage and body firming). Signature items include the Eye Bags & Dark Circles Instant Effect Cream, the Instant Facelift Cream, the Instant Wrinkle Corrector, a Sagging Eyelids Instant Cream, and a Neck & Décolleté lifting product.
Across its serum line the brand draws on familiar skincare actives, among them retinol, vitamin C, collagen, niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, bakuchiol and peptides. Remescar markets a "Microbiome Technology" line, which it describes as an approach that "actively supports, nourishes, and balances your skin's natural ecosystem" using ingredients such as prebiotics, peptides and minerals, with the aim of strengthening beneficial skin bacteria.
On testing, the company states that "all Remescar products have been clinically proven safe and effective" and that its clinical testing is "always performed by an independent research laboratory," with studies conducted in line with Good Clinical Practice [3]. Its clinically-proven page does not publish sample sizes, study durations or quantified before-and-after figures.
Recognition
The Eye Bags & Dark Circles Cream is the brand's most-discussed product, frequently reviewed on TikTok, Trustpilot and beauty blogs as a quick under-eye fix. According to the company, the product won a Dutch Beauty Award and was shortlisted for three such awards [5]. A UK lifestyle review captured its typical framing and its limits: the writer, a busy parent with tired-looking eyes, concluded that the cream "won't get rid of fine lines and wrinkles" and "isn't a medical treatment," but "really does get rid of eye bags and dark circles" [8].
Current status
Remescar is active but under corporate ownership rather than independent. The brand runs live e-commerce across the European Union and Nordic markets, maintains a catalogue of more than 30 products, and continues to launch new lines and generate press. Its independence ended with the 2021–2022 acquisition of parent Sylphar by Karo Pharma (EQT) [6], and it now operates as a brand within the Karo Healthcare portfolio.
