Behind both sits a much older lineage: the firm links its identity to 1749 and the Potter & Moore name, whose own roots predate the modern company by two centuries.

The deeper heritage runs to 1749, when physic gardeners Ephraim Potter and William Moore established what the company calls "the oldest English toiletries company" in Mitcham, Surrey, specialising in lavender cultivation and operating a distillery to extract lavender oil [2]. Creightons itself emerged in 1954 as a maker of health and beauty products. The two strands were formally joined in 2003, when Creightons Plc acquired the Potter & Moore name, uniting the older toiletries heritage with the modern business [2].
