Summary

Overview

Emma Hardie is a British skincare brand founded in London in 2009 [6], the eponymous label of holistic facialist Emma Hardie. It grew out of her hands-on facial practice rather than a laboratory, and is best known for the Moringa Cleansing Balm, a melting cleansing balm that has become the brand's signature product. Since July 2021 the company has been owned by the British personal-care group Creightons plc [6].

The brand remains operationally active, with a live online store and several beauty-award wins recorded for 2025. It now sits within Creightons' portfolio as a named brand rather than an independent company.

Origin and founders

Emma Hardie built her reputation as a facialist before she sold a single product. According to the company, she developed a "linear massage method" — a restructuring acupressure technique she paired with natural botanical formulations — while looking for solutions to her own health concerns. She introduced her signature "Natural Lift and Sculpting Facial" in 1996, a massage-based treatment that works with the direction of the muscle fibres rather than in circular motions [5].

That clinic-led approach drew a following before any retail line existed. Cult Beauty's founder profile notes that celebrities, beauty editors and "the skin care-savvy" frequented her Mayfair clinic in London [5]. In 2009 she launched the eponymous Amazing Face skincare line, turning the techniques and botanical formulas of her treatments into products [6].

Ownership

In 2021 Emma Hardie was acquired by Creightons plc, a British manufacturer and marketer of personal-care brands, for £6.3 million [6]. Trade coverage from Cosmetics Business and several other outlets dates the completion to 29 July 2021 [6]; a separate internal scope note recorded the year as 2022, but the converging trade-press reporting places the deal in 2021. At the time of the sale, the business reported turnover of £3.8 million for the year to 30 June 2020, and Barry Cook, the former managing director of Emma Hardie Ltd, was retained to support the transition.

Within Creightons, Emma Hardie sits alongside sister brands including Balance Active Formula, Feather & Down, The Curl Company and T-Zone [6].

Philosophy and positioning

The company describes its purpose as "creating natural, cruelty-free and innovative products with integrity that helps skin look younger, naturally" [1]. Its stated approach is to avoid skin-sensitising ingredients and to pair its products with the facial treatments and massage techniques Emma Hardie developed. The brand presents itself as cruelty-free, female-founded, paraben-free and 100% vegetarian, and says its products are made in Britain [1]. It associates itself with clean beauty and with a facialist-led tradition of skincare.

Products and innovation

The Moringa Cleansing Balm, part of the Amazing Face collection, is the brand's hero product. Built around moringa seed extract, it is described by the company as a buttery balm that melts on contact "from solid, to a nourishing oil and then a soft milk" to lift away makeup and the day's residue [3]. The newer Brilliance range centres on brightening, using stabilised vitamin C and niacinamide (vitamin B3) alongside red algae extract and cloudberry seed oil, and is positioned to even skin tone and reduce the appearance of dark spots. Other named products include the Vit C Brilliance Cleansing Balm and the Vitamin C Brightening Hydrogel Facial Mask.

Recognition

By the time of its acquisition the company described itself as an international, independent skincare brand with more than 40 beauty awards and customers across the UK, Europe, the United States and Asia Pacific [6]. More recent wins include a 2025 Global Make Up Awards Gold for Best Natural Skincare Product, a 2025 Bronze in the same programme for the Moringa Cleansing Balm, and a 2025 Get The Gloss Beauty Award Gold for Best Oil Balm or Cleanser, awarded to the Vit C Brilliance Cleansing Balm [4].

Current status

Emma Hardie is active. The brand operates a live e-commerce store and recorded multiple award wins in 2025 [3]. Since the 2021 acquisition it has functioned as a named brand within Creightons plc rather than as an independent business; Creightons has reported plans to rebrand its parent company as Potter & Moore.
