Overview
Jesús del Pozo is a Spanish fragrance line that grew out of the work of the Madrid couturier of the same name (1946–2011). Best known internationally for its Halloween perfume, the line began as a side venture of the fashion designer before becoming a standalone fragrance business. After del Pozo's death in 2011, the brand was acquired by the Spanish fragrance group Perfumes y Diseño (PyD), which still markets the Halloween range today [4].
The brand's history is split in two. The fashion house was rebranded as DELPOZO and has since closed, while the fragrance line continues under PyD ownership as one of the company's own brands [4]. As a result, the name now refers chiefly to a catalogue of perfumes rather than to an independent designer label.

Origin & founders
Jesús del Pozo was a Spanish fashion designer born in Madrid on 21 December 1946. He opened his first menswear shop in 1974 and showed his debut men's collection in Paris two years later, before moving into women's ready-to-wear at Madrid's Cibeles fashion show during the 1980s.
He entered the perfume industry in 1992 with a fragrance called Duende, developed in collaboration with Perfumes y Diseño [4]. Sources differ on which date marks the start of the fragrance brand. Wikipedia places it in 1992, when del Pozo released Duende [4]; retailer and editorial listings tend to date the brand from 1997, the year the signature Halloween perfume launched [6]. The earlier date reflects the designer's first move into fragrance, the later one the arrival of the product that carried the name abroad.
History & milestones
The line's defining moment came in 1997 with Halloween, a women's perfume composed by the perfumer Max Gavarry and described in its marketing as a tribute to a mysterious, "vamp"-like woman rather than to the seasonal holiday. A flanker, Halloween Kiss, followed in 2008. Earlier and parallel releases included Quasar, named in editorial coverage as another of the designer's successful scents.
Del Pozo continued to work across fashion and fragrance until his death in Madrid on 13 August 2011. Soon after, Grupo Perfumes y Diseño acquired the brand; the fashion side was renamed DELPOZO under creative director Josep Font, while the fragrance line was retained [4].
Ownership
Since 2011 the brand has been owned by Perfumes y Diseño, a family-owned Spanish fragrance and cosmetics company headquartered in Madrid [2]. PyD lists Halloween among its "own brands," using the wording "Halloween (Jesús del Pozo line)," alongside labels such as El Ganso, Scalpers, Tous, Nightology and OTZ LAB. The company describes itself as a developer and distributor of selective fragrances and cosmetics, and reports a presence in more than 85 markets worldwide [3]. PyD itself was founded in 1998 and is distinct from the designer, who died the year it acquired his brand.
Philosophy & positioning
The Halloween line is positioned around personal transformation, summed up by the tagline "Tu magia, tu deseo" ("Your magic, your desire"). According to PyD, the fragrances are meant to let the wearer reveal a hidden side of their personality, and editorial coverage frames the range as an expression of "mysterious feminine charm" rather than as costume-party scents [5]. PyD places the line in the prestige, or selective, segment of the market [2].
Products & innovation
Halloween remains the core of the brand. PyD's catalogue lists twelve fragrances split into a women's line and a men's line, including Halloween EDT, Halloween Magic, Halloween Bliss, Halloween Blossom and Halloween Blue Drop, alongside men's scents such as Man and My World. The original 1997 Halloween is described in editorial coverage as the line's most popular perfume and a long-running classic [5]. The brand's heritage also includes its earliest fragrances, Duende (1992) and Quasar, which predate the Halloween name.
Recognition
The designer behind the brand was widely honoured in Spanish fashion. Jesús del Pozo received the Aguja de Oro (Golden Needle) in 1981 and the Cristóbal Balenciaga National Award in 1989. In 1998 he became the first couturier to be awarded Spain's Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts, presented by King Juan Carlos I [4]. Wikipedia also records multiple fragrance awards from Glamour, GQ and Cosmopolitan, though specific years and categories are not detailed.
Current status
The Jesús del Pozo brand is no longer independent. Following the founder's death in 2011 it was acquired by Perfumes y Diseño, and the associated DELPOZO fashion house has since shut down [4]. The Halloween fragrance line, however, remains active: PyD continues to list and market it as one of its own brands, with a current range of twelve products across women's and men's lines and newer additions including My Wish, Bliss, Blue Drop and Blossom [1].
