Overview
Dr. Michael Zangani is a Norwegian skincare brand founded by the dermatologist of the same name and launched in 2025 [9]. Based in Oslo and owned by the Norwegian beauty company Beauty Rebels AS [2], it sells a dermatologist-developed range under the name Skin Restore through its own online shop and a network of Norwegian pharmacies.
The brand built its first collection around eight products spanning cleansing, day and night care, eye and brightening treatments, and body care. Its tagline, "Vitenskapsbasert hudpleie utviklet av hudlege" (science-based skincare developed by a dermatologist), frames the proposition that has shaped the line from the start: clinical credentials applied to everyday skincare.
Origin and founders
The line was created by Dr. Michael Zangani, a dermatologist trained at the University of Oslo and Rikshospitalet. According to the company, he completed a doctorate at the University of Oslo in collaboration with Harvard Medical University, and pursued cosmetic-dermatology training through the American Academy of Cosmetic Medicine in Florida, Miami and Los Angeles [2]. His stated background includes founding what the brand describes as Norway's first dedicated acne clinic and more than a decade of collaboration with the dermatologist Dr. Zein Obagi.
By the company's account, the range grew out of gaps Zangani identified while treating patients: products that underperformed, damaged the skin barrier, or were too expensive to be accessible [9]. The Skin Restore line was developed in partnership with Beauty Rebels AS and announced on 4 February 2025 [9]. Norwegian editorial title Costume covered the launch in March 2025, noting that Zangani also directs medical operations for the Eger Group's network of Norwegian cosmetic clinics [10].
Ownership
The brand's parent company is Beauty Rebels AS, a Norwegian beauty firm whose portfolio also includes Nude Beauty, Vendela Kirsebom and HAAR. The company is registered in Oslo, with an address at Gjerdrums vei 8 [2].
Philosophy and positioning
The brand positions itself as science-based skincare developed by a dermatologist, prioritising a strong skin barrier, clinically documented ingredients, and formulas intended to suit a range of skin types. Its stated values are scientific backing, barrier protection, accessibility, and what it calls holistic solutions that address several skin concerns at once [9]. On its anti-ageing approach, the company says the aim is to preserve skin health over time rather than to reverse ageing.
Products and innovation
The first collection comprised eight products: Daily Cleanser, Advanced Day Cream, Restorative Night Cream, Active Night Cream, Eye Cream, Brightening Emulsion, Décolletage & Neck Cream, and Body Cream [11]. The shop later listed further items, including a facial scrub, sheet masks, gift sets, and a Sensitive line aimed at sensitive and rosacea-prone skin.
Across the range the brand highlights ingredients such as encapsulated retinol, bakuchiol as a retinol alternative, peptides, ectoin, glycolic acid, ceramides and hyaluronic acid, and says they are selected for documented effect. The products are presented under a proprietary "Skin Restore" technology, and the company states they are manufactured and stocked in Norway.
The brand publishes clinical figures for several products, attributing them to testing by independent experts [4]. For the Active Night Cream it reports that, after 28 days, all participants saw a reduction in the number of wrinkles, with 70 percent showing reduced wrinkle volume, 80 percent reduced wrinkle area and 90 percent reduced wrinkle length [4]. It cites an 80 percent reduction in wrinkle area for the Eye Cream over the same period, and for the Brightening Emulsion reports that 78 percent of participants experienced reduced melanin content and a lighter skin tone [4].
Recognition
The Active Night Cream won the Night Care category at Costume's Beauty Favorites in 2025 [5]. The accompanying jury statement credited its 0.3 percent encapsulated retinol, mandelic acid, bakuchiol and jojoba oil. The Body Cream was named in Tara's Pro Age favourites, and the brand lists nominations for the Eye Cream and Advanced Day Cream at the Costume Beauty Awards, Tara Pro Age and, for the day cream, the Elle Awards [5]. Costume's editorial team, which tested the line, reported pleasant fragrance, quick absorption and moisturising results.
Current status
The brand is active. It launched in February 2025 and distributes through its own site and several Norwegian pharmacy chains, including Boots Apotek, Vitusapotek, Ditt Apotek and Apotek 1 [10]. Beyond product sales, it maintains a magazine, a podcast titled "Hudlegen" (The Skin Doctor) and active Instagram and TikTok accounts. Its commercial footprint is concentrated in Norway.
