Overview
Medisoft is a Finnish skincare brand owned by Oy Transmeri Ab, a family-owned Finnish sales, marketing and distribution company. The current Medisoft range is a dermatologically tested, pharmacy-exclusive line of body and hair care positioned for the whole family, including sensitive and atopic skin. It is built around a domestic forest-microbe extract and was developed in collaboration with the Finnish Allergy, Skin and Asthma Association.
The brand sits at the intersection of two timelines. The Medisoft name has roots reaching back to the 1960s, and for years it was associated chiefly with hand-hygiene products. The skincare line that exists today was launched as a new range at the Finnish Pharmacy Days on 7–8 November 2025 [6]. The brand is active, with a live website and current social channels.
Origin and ownership
Medisoft is a brand of Oy Transmeri Ab, headquartered in Espoo. Transmeri itself was founded in 1928 by the Danish businessman Gunnar Didrichsen and handles the sales, marketing and distribution of cosmetics and consumer goods across Finland, the Nordic countries and the Baltic region; it has represented partner brands such as SC Johnson since 1931 and Chanel since 1933 [7]. The wider, family-owned Transmeri Group employs over 800 people [7].
Within that group, Medisoft is described as Transmeri's own brand, "whose history reaches all the way back to the 1960s" [6]. Because of this layered history, the brand's age is not a single number. The skincare line as it exists today dates to its 2025 launch; the Medisoft name as a product line goes back to the 1960s; and the parent company behind it was founded in 1928 [7]. The current products are manufactured by Cosmia Nordic, a sister company within the group, at its factory in Vantaa using fossil-free electricity [6].
Products and ingredients
The relaunched range comprises eight products aimed mainly at the body, spanning moisturisers, body and hand creams, cleansing washes, a cleansing oil, and hair care in the form of a shampoo and conditioner [6]. Items include a Moisturising Face & Body lotion, a Nourishing Body cream, a Moisturising Hand cream, a sulfate-free Moisturising Shampoo, and a Nourishing Cleansing oil. An earlier line of hand-sanitising gels and wipes continues to carry the Medisoft name; Transmeri describes that side of the range as a Finnish hand-hygiene range tested against viruses such as norovirus, coronavirus and influenza [8].
The line's signature ingredient is a Finnish forest-microbe extract trademarked as Re-Connecting Nature. According to the Olo-apteekki pharmacy blog, the extract contains more than 600 Finnish bacterial species in inactivated form, mimicking the microbial diversity of natural environments while remaining safe and vegan [5]. The company's stated rationale draws on the biodiversity hypothesis: modern life is spent largely indoors, reducing contact with natural microbes, and the extract is intended to bring that exposure into daily skincare to strengthen the skin's protective barrier. Other featured ingredients include xylitol, oat oil, and a certified betaine obtained from sugar-industry by-products in Naantali.
Philosophy and positioning
Medisoft presents itself, in the words of its own marketing, as "the skin's soft protective layer in the whole family's daily skincare," combining domestic quality, research-based actives and a focus on the skin microbiome [5]. The creams are described as fragrance-free, vegan and dermatologically tested, and were developed together with the Finnish Allergy, Skin and Asthma Association [5]; the wash products carry a light, shared scent. The brand's tagline is "Lempeyttä, kun maailma tulee iholle" — roughly, "Gentleness, when the world comes to the skin."
Distribution is pharmacy-only: the skincare products are sold solely through pharmacies [5], and the launch was timed to the Finnish Pharmacy Days. Reach is currently limited to Finland.
Sustainability
The company manufactures its products in Finland and states that all carry the Avainlippu (Key Flag) mark for domestic work [5]. Production at the Vantaa factory runs on fossil-free electricity [6]. On packaging, the brand says its bottles use 50% recycled plastic and its tubes 50% recycled monomaterial plastic, with packaging designed to be recyclable, and describes the products as fully vegan.
Current status
Medisoft is an active brand. Its most recent visible activity is the November 2025 launch of the skincare range at the Finnish Pharmacy Days [6], supported by a live website and active Instagram and TikTok accounts. Operations and distribution are single-country, concentrated in the Finnish pharmacy channel.
